Looks and sounds pretty damn sweet for anyone interested. Squirrel goes through all the new stuff. Graphics, physics, lighting and sound etc will be updated to even more realistic standards.

They will be only released in the Deluxe Package for the Titanium embossed Unobtanium Senior Flight Deck Card holders upon attending the invitation only Charity Fund Raiser Auction to benefit the billionaires who sadly can use the fingers on both hands to count how many billions they have to survive on.

Yeah, that is a slight issue for me, lol. The cool thing is how realistic it looks and to be able to fly around the world with highly realistic flight model, real time weather, realistic turbulence and all that jazz. But i love more combat flight sims like DCS and Falcon. :)

I remember when I got Frontier (Sequel to Elite) on the Amiga, and a friend of mine who'd had Elite on his Amstrad was laughing when I said you don't want the police after you - no worries he said, just shoot them and off you go. Err... check this out... fire my laser and about 10 police craft come flying out of the base, no chance...

Then when I tried First Encounters on the PC, and you go to a 'dangerous' system, and instead of having a series of 1v1 battles with pirates you immediately get about 5 around you and have very little hope (with my skills) unless you've added some defences already - different world again.

I was considering getting ED when it was on sale, for single player really (I don't fare well in multiplayer, except in driving games) but some reviews weren't completely positive when it came to unfinished features and issues. I thought well, I get that with one game already, I don't need to spend even more time on such things...
 
I had just bought a larger ship, VERY early in the game. Took 6 units instead of 2, and got jumped by a pirate on my approach to the destination. He wanted 1 of my cargo...I didn't know how to give it to him. He wrecked me almost instantly.
