Hi everyone, Very quick question, is it OK to use exiting ISI objects and images (textures) in a track build? Some of the things like armco, trees/bushes and textures are just perfect for what I am doing. Thanks in advance. Mike
Same as with cars; if they are NOT encrypted and you want re-use for a rF2 mod, you can do it. Just give credit to original owners and it's fine.
I have a question for you, Tuttle. If I make an object for a rFactor 2 track and someone takes it and puts it in his track without permission, is legal? And if I do an animation for an ISI object (like a corner worker, for example) and someone puts it in his track without permission, is it legal?
Ciao McNolo! Unless you don't gave rights to ISI, in this case you are the owner, you are the artist, you have the rights on these assets. So, it's up to you, if you want your assets being used by other people or not. Just put a text file on your mods, about your licensing model, and you are fine with that. But, even if you don't put any license text, you still have the right to ask people using it without permission, to stop doing so. People can reuse ISI assets into their own rFactor2 mods. That is of course about ISI tracks.
Well, this is just what is happening with "Long Beach" track of the "Road to Vegas" event by Formula E. That track contains my electronic flags and my photographer animation (which I created for Bahrain) without permissions or credits for that. A global event which is... not legal?.
Sorry, these are details I'm not really aware of. I mean, I know nothing about that so I can't help. Feel free to contact those parts you believe are involved.
I know you and ISI don't have anything to do with this, I didn't want to imply that. I only wanted know if I had rights about this two things. I'm not going to do anything about it, but if the author of that track reads this, please give me the credit for this things. I don't care if anyone use this, but give me the credits. Regards.
Of course guys, if your project has any commercial involvement, please, contact us just to discuss the specific case.
