It is not rFactor damping what does not work, what it is not working is the SST game damping setting.
The parameter for damping in the controller.ini is called "Steering resistance". I wanted to try it when a bought the wheel and ask John Beson from Simsteering about it, and he told me game damping was not implemented by that time, and it has not been implemented yet.
I use to set damping around 2%, friction 5% and inertia around 12% at the SST driver but there are some cars that need a lot more to stop the oscilations at straight line. And gain at 100% with the steering torque capability at 26Nm, although I have to set the car multiplier below 1 for some cars because FFB is way too heavy for cars with power steering in real life. Filter at 4 and all the extra effects at 0. It works very well for me like this.
One very anoying thing is having to quit the game completelly everytime you want to drive another car to set the steering lock. You have to see the car lock, then exit the game change the wheel angle at SST driver, and start the game again. An automatic way of change it, like it works with fanatec and logitech wheels, or a general wheel rotation and software soft lock like at iracing or AC would be a big improvement.

will update tomorrow (fri), after many tests on different .Json settings I finally understand pretty much what each line does and how I think they are best used together,
pretty happy for the first time, I'll update first post + add the .Json profile then too
( I just need to test it on the high downforce cars yet, as it needs to suit all cars )

altered / re-tested about 400 times before finally getting to this, stayed up all through the night Mon night as had a bee in my bonnet about it lol

I know that these settings are not for my poor g27, but... I just decided to try it out (well, why not? >_>) and my force feedback is reversed >_> Is that just because of my wheel or I can fix it in the .json file?

    Thanks! That helped
Actually, your settings works perfectly fine on g27, great work! I feel more and the wheel is smoother, I like it (even more than the standard ones) >_>

Well, all i did was changing the torque capability thing (or what ever it was) to right value and set the resistance/damping coefficent to 0 because i use the mmos damping. I have been very happy with that so i haven't touch anything else.

Same here, except I changed the jolt values and didn't touch the damping..

I Too agree after changing ffb force from negitive to positive the controller json file in the first post is very good for G27 just needed to reassign buttons to suit
    Thanks for sharing

have been testing new one for last 4 days, actually managed to keep the ffb fantastic detail from rfactor2 but without it being to
aggressive , give a very nice direct & attached style feel

I'll upload it to first post as a B option ( as first option is still decent ) , feedback appreciated
