I ended up buying a second copy of rF2 for my servers steam account. Now it is a breeze handling getting content and updates but more expense. I was close to dropping rF2 over the cmd server system
the steamcmd update wont work for my steamcmd dedicated server ?? Do I need to uninstall steam cmd and the server or am I missing something as it just says that steamcmd is not a valid command..
No issues running the update here either. Opened a cmd window, navigated to the steamCMD folder and ran the update command: steamcmd +login anonymous +force_install_dir ../rFactor2-Dedicated +app_update 400300 +quit Quickly updated to 1109
If you get that error just type CMD press enter then run the update command Edit I should add to that the way I do it is. On win 10 1 I open the steamcmd folder and shift right click. I choose open power shell. 2 I then type cmd and enter 3 I paste the update command and enter 4 Bobs your uncle it updates.
Very stranger, first time i executed the update with my steam user, the output was successfully, but when i started the server, no change on the version. Second time i ran with anonymous user, and it worked!!! Maybe i installed with anonymous and don't remenber?
I can update the Dedi-Server without a problem. However I have to use my login credentials when I want to update the GT3 pack for the server. Is this right? I thought the dedi-server could be updated, including content, using only the anonymous login.
On our dedi server we use anonymous account to update the server, which doesn't automatically update content, all content has to use a login account to update. We have a lot of batch files to do this but found it quicker to copy the rfcmp files directly from home computer to the server.
I just updated our server to 1109 through SteamCMD with no issues. However, when I now start the dedicated server application it keeps on loading and doesn't appear in the server list. It seems it doesn't get an ID. Did I miss a step, do I need to update something somwhere? Thanks!
So, it showed up eventually, but now I see that the new build is causing a lot of issues. How can you revert back to previous version through SteamCMD please?
An anonymous user for launcher, or whatever system new UI uses, is a must. Actual system is less than friendly.
for v1108 try this; steamcmd +login anonymous +force_install_dir YOUR INSTALL DIR +app_update 400300 -validate -beta v1108 +quit EDIT: Check out this doc on github for steamcmd commands https://github.com/dgibbs64/SteamCMD-Commands-List/blob/master/steamcmdcommands.txt
