For any build greater than 280, I have changed the port configuration. First, I have fixed the issue of running the client and server on the same machine. While this has not been tested by our beta testers yet (it will be tonight); it worked flawless for me once I change how the UDP socket was bound on the client (XP users probably never experienced this bug). Second, the server will now use just two ports Simulation Port="54297" // range is 1025 - 65535 HTTP Server Port="64297" // range is 1025 - 65535. Used for file sharing No longer will the server guess a port for you if you mess this up. A port forward or firewall hole for the simulation port must allow both UDP and TCP. The HTTP port must allow TCP. Currently, I do believe the HTTP port is required to join. This may not always be the case. You may be asking why do this. 1) Simplicity: Less chance for a configuration error 2) Personal QoS: Your simulation port (or ports if running multiple server) should have higher priority than your HTTP port. Since I am now sending both UDP and TCP on the same simulation port this should be much easier. 3) ISP QoS: We often have trouble on a given ISP. They should be easily be able to detect our server now if you contact their technical support.
What you get will be a higher number I am sure, he is saying it was just introduced into rF2 at that number.
hope the update is soon like ASAP its been awhile since we had 1. around the 7th of AUGUST sounds great for users.
Thanks, the "rf2 multiple servers howto" could use an update, too to reflect the new, easier port setup. Cheers, Uwe
Hi there. Excuse my English but I use google translator. I have two installations rFactor2 Start a dedicated server and it works correctly. The installation will change sugunda port 64287-64289 the next line. "HTTP Server Port":64298, "HTTP Server Port#":"range is 1025 - 65535. Used for file sharing", and when I start the second server from another installation I get the following message. "Ensuer ports set in multiplayer.ini are available" Of course firewold ports and router are open. And with the previous build of rFactor2 trying to open 2 servers from one installation, copying the player folder, renamed the player.plr etc. I also spent the same problem of the error message when trying to start it. * to see if anyone can help me and comentarme that's what I'm doing wrong. A Cordial greeting Xamar
