Have a track where the xfinish is 15 meters beyond the actual finish line and flag official. Milwaukee mile oval.

-Unsuccessful moving it with simed and 3dsmax (materials and instance correct)
-tried with out an AIW thinking it is linked
-looked through many forum pages and searched

Any feedback on what I am missing?

    Thanks in advanced

Check that the pivot point is 0,0,0

I don't know if i'm understanding your problem.
You move the xfinish in 3DSimEd or 3dsMax and:
    The object doesn't move?
The object is moved but if you open it again, it's in the old position?
The object is in the right position but rF2 doesn't detect the xfinish?

The object doesn't move? it does and i save it
The object is moved but if you open it again, it's in the old position? Yes indeed. just keeps going back
The object is in the right position but rF2 doesn't detect the xfinish? the game detects the original position not the new one

I'm wondering if its connected to the xsectors somehow.

Are you exporting it? I don't understand how it would move back to its original location.

And if you exported it, did you export it to the correct folder?

If you move it in 3DSimEd, it changes the Pivot Point, depending on the Method that you use for the Movement.
So after you did save it, you have to load it again, set the Pivot Point back to 0,0,0 and save it again.
Another Explanation could be, that there are 2 XFinish Objects in your Track Folder, where it now loads the wrong one always.
If you absolutely can not solve it, upload the Track and send the Link by a private Conversation to me or @Coutie or @lagg or (if he agrees :)) to @Jka

This has happened to me moving objects with 3DSimEd
As @redapg has said, depending on how you open the object, the pivot point wil be 0,0,0 or something different.
Try opening the object with double click, move the object and check the pivot point in menu Edit - Center Model - Set Pivot Point.
If you don't get it, send me the object and i'll try it.

    thanks guys,
I did notice the extra xfinish in the other directory. I am just using the oval version. I dont even have the road coarse packaged.
I kinda moved on with the aiw and hours of racing pace/aggressiveness testing. Even and made a finish line strip. I also just tried to move the starter perch. The perfectionist in me will return when i clean up the trees and outside terrain.

Focusing on mesh and aiw first.
Really enjoying the tracks with my own mesh and bumps based on watching cart 98 races.....what an incredible difference in the driving experience. Cant believe I made it this far.....
