I have been trying for weeks to set up a server...but cant get it to work... I followed instructions painstakingly...get the dedicated server running...but when i join from the gaming PC i get unable to install server mod possibly due to missing content. I can see that the client PC had the track and car already installed. and that the server mod has downloaded onto the client successdully. i decided to delete the server and car and track mods from the client..then i rejoined the server...and the server mod downloaded again, but not the track or car mod. i checked the track and car versions match. fine... i checked the packages folder on the dedicated server and the Client.. all fine steam versions are up to date Please help...it has been hours of effort and it feels so CLOSE to working...
No, i have admitted defeat.... i tried to follow another tutorial which uses AWS CloudFormation, but their AWS template doesnt actually work I found a couple of companies who say they can build me one. MarkMods (dont recommend as the FTP software was blocked by Norton anti-virus software as Dangerous) and now SAdler = awaiting the build.....
Could you tell us what folders there are in those folders of the server? ..\rFactor 2\Installed\Locations\Silverstone_2016\ ..\rFactor 2\Installed\Vehicles\Radical_SR3-RSX_2017\ Can you clarify what was downloaded from the server and what no? Can you give us the name of the server to check ourselves what happen when we try to connect?
Maybe server unlock bin?? Found here https://forum.studio-397.com/index.php?threads/how-to-hosting-with-steamcmd-and-paid-content.57209/
Thank you so much. I had the same problem and was able to fix it by changing the Multiplayer.json file setting Autodownloads from false to true. I will show the path to this file in case anyone else is having the same issues: D:\Server\rfactor2-dedicated\UserData\player Obviously, this path will change depending on where the server folder is located in your computer. The other way is searching in your computer the file multiplayer.json, open as notepad, ctrl+F the word "autodownload" and change it from "false" to "true". Save it and that's it. Thank you!
Isn't this the multiplayer.json file which is located in the rF2 install folder (..:\Steam Games\steamapps\common\rFactor 2\UserData\player) In my dedicated server folder (steamcmd) i have no .json files which i can edit.
Have you checked the correct Folder? If you have installed it with Steamcommand and the default Settings, you should have a folder called "rfactor2-dedicated" on the same Drive where the Steamcommand Folder is located. And then it's in the Folder ..\rfactor2-dedicated\UserData\player
Mmm that is strange.. I do have the dedicated server installed with Steamcommand and running it with no problems. I think it is running with default settings and people can join it. For updating the server i just run the steamcmd.exe when needed. I have the dedicated server (folder with Steamcmd) and rF2 both installed at the same drive, but can not find anywhere a folder called "rFactor2-dedicated". The only Multiplayer.json file i can see is in E:\Steam Games\steamapps\common\rFactor 2\UserData\player which is in my rF2 install folder.
You maybe have installed the Server into another Folder than the default "rfactor2-dedicated", so you have to check that Folder and that Folder should have the ..\UserData\player Folder with the necessary JSON Files.
Follow this video: And this guide: https://docs.studio-397.com/users-guide/setting-up-a-dedicated-server It's exhausting but if you do it step by step slowly then you can get it all done right.
