Mostly because for a long time I have been fascinated by this
I can get it to drive quite similarly in rF2. And I will.
It is also good looking to me, it just seems correct. I like how late 70s slicks were, how car moved around on them. I want to do some cars from 70s. I like that it is not ground effect car, because I dislike how ground effect cars had to be rock stiff, and just too much downforce. It also looks to relativelly easy to model ,although there is lots of small details. I like that interior is simple. No lights, although that is not a problem for me to do anymore. Rims blur will be simple, I hope, the fact that there will have to be grooved tire graphics complicates it, but I should make it work...
It sounds great.
It is very misrepresented in sirmacing, much like Cooper T51, an absolute legend and exciting car, there is a charm about cars that are awesome, but unpopular. They feel more honest, as without popularity it means that you are genuinelly interested.
Few interesting bits about it:
- Maurice Phillipe designed this car, he also designed Lotus 49 and Lotus 72;
- One of the first cars to use computer telemetry;
- Electronic limiter at 10400RPM;
- Tested same idea as Brabham at the time, and wanted to install turbine at the top, and have radiators at the floor. But cooling was ineffective, and they abandoned the idea;
- Patrick Depailler drove it with good results. One of the best drivers at the time. Was fearless.
