Two race format?

Im not being mad here in thinking before we were given the UI we all use now we had the option to run 2 races per race weekend offline? So you could have Practice, Qualifying, Race1, Race 2?

This is why changes are bad for me.
Before S397 I used to run offline in a online server.

1. You could alter anything
2. Sim never paused
3. You could change cars and skins in garage.
4. You could start room with 10 GT3, drive them multiple times all and have all lap times retained !
5. List goes on and on

Many benefits but yet gain another thing I discovered left field ( not even Tim at ISI knew you could it ) was just something else everyone thought I was mad for .:rolleyes::rolleyes:

It was when we had the first s397 UI, the white one you could adjust the amount of sessions which you can see in this screenshot

@Trebor901 It's just another broken Dropdown in the Menu (Screenshot).
You normally could set 1-4 Sessions there, but now you can only switch it on or off.
But you have the Entries
"CHAMP Num Race Sessions":1,
"CURNT Num Race Sessions":1,
"GPRIX Num Race Sessions":1,
"MULTI Num Race Sessions":1,
"RPLAY Num Race Sessions":1,
in the player.JSON File, where you still can set it. :)
For Single Player you only have to edit the Line
"GPRIX Num Race Sessions":1,
but to be save, change all Lines. :)
The Range of Numbers that can be used is 1-4.

When you do that (do it when the Game is not running), the Number that you have set there, appears in the Menu (Screenshot).
DON'T try to change it there!!!!
If you try it, you again can only set on or off (1/0) and you have to close the Game and edit the player.JSON again.
It seems as if they use the Range (0,1) instead of (0,1,2,3,4) for that Dropdown by mistake.

So i edited the player.json file like you said and save it with the game closed but as soon as i run the game it reverts back to 1 rather than 3

If however I save the player.json but leave notepad open while I launch the game it will stay at 3 and will appear as 3 races on the menu. Although it crashes when loading saying "Failed to allocate memory"

That sounds a bit or better said very strange.
Do you run the Game as an Administrator?
If not, try it out.
If you edit and save the File while the Game is not running and start it then, it should work like it works for me.

Yes i have never had this memory issue before, doing a search here in the forums its apparently linked to virtual memory but i cant see that having more than one race session would consume anymore memory. Also havent changed any settings since playing last night with 1 race.

Do it again and ensure that rFactor 2 is really not running when you edit and save the edited player.JSON.
Use the Taskmanager to check it.

It seems to have corrupted something within my userdata folder as now wont even launch just goes not responding when the big rf2 logo comes up prior to it going full screen....

Close the Game, rename the UserData Folder into UserData_Backup for Example, to keep it as a Backup, then start the Game, that you get a fresh UserData Folder and check if that works.
Maybe you did something wrong when you edited the player.JSON.
That can easily happen.

I think it was because i left the player.json open when i opened the game, fixed it now and also the memory issue seems to have been down to disk space. Moved the game to my bigger ssd and its all now working with the 3 races per weekend as it should.

OK :)
It can be, that, if you leave the player.JSON open in an Editor, that the Game can not modify it.
But that should not be a Problem normally.
It only means that Settings, that you did make in the Menus and other Things, like if you use a different Car... can not be saved in the player.JSON when the Game gets closed.
But it should not have the described Effect.

Yes I have no idea what corrupted it but I deleted the player.json let the game create a new one, copied and pasted all my settings from the corrup one into the new and it is all good now.

Since doing the 3 race thing, if i set opponent number ingame to 24 to replicate the real 2025 btcc grid i get all 24 cars in qualifying and practice but only 12 opponents (13 cars in total including mine) will load on the grid for the race start. It will show the rest as in pit then when you start the race they show as DNF. If i then skip to race 2 those cars that werent in race 1 will be in race 2 and race 2 will take place without me or the other 12 cars that were in race 1

Edit: fixed it by setting "disable semi final logic: true" rather than false. Now all 25 cars are in all 3 races. Just a shame they never added the ability to have other things like race 2 starting with the finishing order of race 1 etc. Or reverse grids.

@Trebor901 I never drive Races against the AI, except in DevMode for Testing Purposes sometimes.
And if i do it, it's only 1 Race Session.
So i never noticed the Problem with the reduced Cars in the different Races.
But good that you figured out what can "cure" it. :)
Maybe it works with the "default" Setting Disable Semi Final Logic":false, when you also run 3 Practice and 3 Qualy Sessions.

And you can do Things like starting a Race with reverse Grid, when you play on a Multiplayer Server.
You can do that "offline" too to avoid that other Players join your Server, just start the integrated dedicated Server and block it's Access to the Internet in your Firwall.

And there are 3rd Party Tools for such Things, called Grid Editor.
You of course will have to do some more Steps, if you want to use it, like running a Warm up before the Race, to be able to set the Grip Order.
rFactor isn't a "straight to play Game". :)

I have found a working Link for such a Tool in my Browser Bookmarks, that you can try it out, if it still works.
You can get it here: https://www.redarcher.eu/index.php/rfactor-applications/2-rfactor-2
It's the 2nd on the List.

The last Time that i was working with such Things is 10-15 Years ago and so i can not say if it still works.
But why not. :)
And in Case that not, you can also use Server Commands to do it.

rFactor has a lot of Possibilities, it's just sometimes hard to find them and then to find out how they can be used.

I think I remember that too, but just to confirm, are you referring to the older version before the last big update? I’ve seen similar changes while working around car repair Dubai setups, where some features get merged or removed after major updates.
