Tutorial to convert tracks from rFactor to rFactor2 with 3dsimed

Hi all,
I'm trying to convert a track (Karting Cardedeu) following the tutorial with no luck, I always get the "Windows stopped working" error. I've converted another track without issues, so I suppose there is something different in this track but I'm not able to find the problem.

In this rar there are the converted and the original tracks:

Someone with more experience can help me to find the problem?

Thanks!

Your KartingCardedeuThmb.tga file is not a tga file, it's a jpg with wrong file extension.
Use a valid tga file, that should solve the problem.

And delete the duplicates of the tdf file in the folders KartingCardedeu\KartingCardedeu and
KartingCardedeu\Assets\GMT.
Every file should exist only 1 time.

Ok, I"ll try that. The multiple tdf are just tests..

Thanks!

Although in the video it says RealRoad would go on a differente tutorial, I made it to put everything in the same video. There is a link in the description to download a zip with required files (converttrack.vbs especially) I hope it helps.

Edited 2016 July 10: I have included three other tutorials that I think can be helpful.

Hi! I had a problem doing it. I am trying to convert Phoenix91 to rfactor 2. I did all the things you did in the begining of the first vídeo but when I get in the DevMode and try to load the track, it shows the correct opening picture jpg and the loading bar progressing normaly. When the bar reach 100% and the screen just go back to the inicial menu of Rfactor 2, closing the devmode program.

Any clues?

PS 1)
The .scn file was a bit diferent from the vídeo, but I copied the output file created and pasted in the end of the scn file as showed in the vídeo.

PS 2)
I didnt edit the gdb file as you did in the video, becouse all the name was already correct "phoenix91"

The tdf file points to the example Joesville, so you must point it to your tdf file
Originally it should be like this:
TerrainDataFile=..\JoesVille_Speedway.tdf
Change it to:
TerrainDataFile=..\yourtrack.tdf
Where "yourtrack" should be changed with your track files name, in your case:
TerrainDataFile=..\phoenix.tdf

Any help in converting from rFactor 2 to rFactor1?

i am the creator of the pannonia ring for RF1. after a 8 year break from simracing i got hooked again several months
ago. i also started a little aiw modding recently and have a converted pannonia ring in dev mode. as soon as i figure out
the real road shaders etc. with 3dsimed i will post a download link here. but don´t expect too much - the track is not up to todays
graphic standards.......
greetings from austria

I would be more interested in your process of understanding the shaders and what lessons you learned. Right now I'm looking at the shaders and it appears a bit daunting.

I've converted a handful of tracks over the years using this tutorial but now I'm having a problem where my latest track isn't showing up in the list in ModDev. I've checked my logs and there's nothing referencing the track either, it's like it doesn't exist. But I've checked the file names and references in the GDB and it's all correct.

I even tried copy pasting an older track which does work and just changing the name so it can load it as a different track and even then it did not show in the list. Not sure if it's a problem with me or a problem with the game itself.

But I'm at a loss and have no idea what to do next because I've triple checked everything and it all looks correct to me, and log files don't tell me anything.

Any suggestions?

Edit: Works in main game but not in ModDev weirdly.

Also, how do I smooth out the bumps? This track has a few bumps where the car literally gets air.

Hi all, first of all thanks to @SPASKIS, I have followed Spaskis's tutorial, and one tutorial in Spanish which says the same but is my maternal language, I have no problem if I convert the track using 3dsimed without real road, but when I paste the material with real road I have a problem, when I export to Rfactor2 only the road .scn it creates a missing text.dds, I've tried pasting the textures of real road in maps folder but it doesn't work, any suggestions?

Check all materials of the meshes that are loaded by the scn file, if you have all used textures in a folder that is listed in the scn files SearchPath= Entries.

Hey i followed all the steps but now I get this error
