After watching gamer musle you tube I though I would give RF2 another go.

So I opted into the RC, fired up the game, Registered, checked and confirmed email, Restarted the game.

All good, so I try to join the Tatuus Rooky. Failed three time whith the usula crap RF2 error message

    An error occured
    Timeout connecting to server
Please try returning to the main menu bla bla bla

    So again bloody useless RF2

I appreciate that but falling at the first hurdle does NOT bode well for RF2

I understand, but give it time and have some patience, sometimes even final versions still have bugs, this can happen with every software!

    Known problems...

    8th October
    • We are hitting our AWS account limits this is resulting in fewer servers being provisioned than we need and causing the whole event to fail. We have a support ticket and are waiting.
    • Joining, then leaving and then rejoining again practice server may give you mod problems - you will need to remove mods and try again
    • Practice servers are becoming too full too quickly and may give a timeout error (we are currently working on this) - Races are unaffected so please still register
    • Practice servers not running through the night (reminder – we pause the service at 3am CEST)
    • Bottom split has the minimum drivers to make the race official (currently 5 rather than equal size splits)
    • Some nationality flags are not showing correctly
    • The schedule page does have incorrect times for some users
    • Some users are unable to submit reports
    • Navigation bar is sometimes not showing updated ranking after a race
    • Could not get your split error – for now, please try going back to the previous menu and enter the event page again or restart
    • Leaderboard has a bug where does not consider the specific track layout or car when it has the same name as a previous event
    • Not all mod files being deleted on boot
    • The join server button occasionally does not activate – please try leaving and rejoin the event page to get the join server button
    • Password on hosted server is not working
    • Qualifying results are showing incorrectly
    • Incorrect rank shown on post-race screen
    • Profile/Email update is not saving
    • If you register for two races, both event pages will receive the first event’s server details when that race begins
    • Some circuits, such as Nürburgring may have the server start a few minutes later than expected - you may need to wait up to 4 minutes after a server is due to be started
    • Qualifying results are being incorrectly reported for your DR in the post-race screen
    • Some servers under extreme load can experience cars disappearing in rare cases

    About :
Does this RC version deletes all mods at start ? Only official events i suppose.

I always wanted such an option but to delete all mods.
Certain mods were causing issues on old mods at some point. I prefer to remove all of them.
And i do that by hand frequently ...

Any chances of adding an option "Remove all mods" on start ? Maybe hidden in some ini file ...
Except "All tracks and cars" :D

  11. It would be nice to have such a feature when entering multiplayer mode e.g. - not sure if it will satisfy at that point. Using the same name for a mod for different sessions (on the dedicated server) causes problems at the client in my experience; that's why I haven chosen to use mod names (name and filename of them) with e.g. actual date in the string. Another possibility is to delete all mods at startup by using a simple batch file like I do additionally.

The current RC requires the server to set the vmods as temporary(“Mark Shared Mods As Temp": true in the server’s multiplayer.json file)
then clients will have them deleted upon next reboot. There is no way of knowing beforehand if a server has this set, clients find out on rF2 reboot. Going forward if you do a manual cleanup of your vmods now, then in theory the only ones that will be there are the ones from servers where it hasn’t been set, well that’s the theory :)

  13. Checked it ... it is a new option of the release candidate dedicated server - so I guess multiplayer.json files have to be updated, too, if updating from the current release.

Or better to say: I have to delete the multiplayer.json?

I could try if the multiplayer json will be updated automatically but I have doubts ...

  14. Checked it - it seems that the json files are updated by starting release candidate of dedicated server; I am surprised (saying sorry for being so as I expected the opposite).
