http://www.warpalizer.com/ Have you seen it? Do you have one? Do you want one? I talked to the Olav and he was really kool. Sent me a demo and some info. Looks like you could do something like we would want for $500 and 2-3 HD projectors. "OK, if you are a home gamer than we have a gaming version that offers up to 3 channels as standard. The price is e 450.- " Projectors it seems can cost what ever you want them to... I found some for thousands and some for $60... They all had very similar specs. There's some key to the price difference that I'm not aware of. Some feature that is ultra expensive. You can build your screen from any material that you choose, of course brither white and the smoother the better. Uniformity of curve will help calibrate, but they have an awesome calibration system that allows spots to be calibrated.
Also see http://www.projectimmersion.com. I considered it. Thoroughly considered it. In the end, I bought triple monitors instead. If you look at every video of a projected image, it is fuzzy compared to monitors. In the end, I knew I wouldn't be happy with a less sharp image.
Thanks for the link... I thought about that. I had hoped the doubling of projectors and HD would help on that front.
I was very seriously considering projection solution last year. after trying okulus rift (DK2) I gave up. It is not reasonable for me - costs, ease of use and space restrictions in my man cave. VR is far more preferable if these parameters plays a role in your decision making.
I do have a curved 180 degree screen.with one singke projector using warping software "inmersive display" and it works pretty well.although i feel a lack.in width due to standard resolution.
