I see your point now. I just immediately put on the headset when I start RF2 (a habit from back in the days when the internal WMR sensor needed to be activated by putting on the headset). If I trust that the game is really starting up, I don't need to put on the headset immediately and I can just keep trying the webpage link until it connects and then do the config stuff. Out of curiosity, what if you wanted to switch back to flatscreen from VR? How would you do that without the launcher? Is the "use VR" and "use VR and monitor" in the new UI menus somewhere?

When i launch rF2 from the library, Steam shows me two options. To launch the program or launch the config tool.

I now understand. If you start from a desktop shortcut, which I have always done, you don't get the option to do either sim or config. It jumps into VR immediately.

    Hahaha.
I always start from the library and it was difficult for me to understand that someone don't see the start options.

This sounds fantastic, I'm wanting to do all my setups and configuration on the flat screen and then switch to VR just for the driving.

So are we saying this is already possible?

Yes, if you start RF2 from your Steam library, you will immediately be given the choice to start the sim or to run the display setup just like you would from the launcher. I can confirm if you select config, it will go to that dialog box, let you disable VR and then run RF2 on the flatscreen with the new UI.

Does anyone know how to start the new UI with a different player profile?

Maybe it is possible like the dedicated server to use a shortcut
    +profile=player2

Just guessing I don't know if it works.

Yes got it working by shortcuts. Either this

    D:\Steam\steam.exe -applaunch 365960 +profile=non_vr

    or this

    "D:\Steam\steamapps\common\rFactor 2\Bin64\rFactor2.exe" +profile=non_vr

the last one always opens an window before rF2 starts so i prefer the first one.

When I click the drop down in the beta tab, no betas are showing up. Actually the drop down icon is grayed out.

    How can I solve that?

    TIA

Is the game running while you're trying to opt to beta? If so, exit game, close luncher and then try.

No, it's not. Restarted PC, opened steam, went to the beta tab and nothing...

Are you right clicking on rfactor2 in your steam library and selecting properties, then the betas tab? Can you post screenshot.

Perhaps after the next update the new interface will be great, it is desirable, but today 90% of people use the old interface, which is much more versatile and practical, than the new one, which in addition to bugs, and Too many tabs, plus a thousand clicks to make a setup, it's disastrous ... at least they could leave the decision of the user which build to choose !!!

after having tried it,, new interface is still disappointing, copying things from other games is fatal, the old one is still infinitely better than this one even though it has fewer options, it defines how horrible the new interface is, a real shame:mad::(
