Symmons Plains Raceway [WIP]

Hey Shaun, can you add some shadows to the grandstand on the left. Looks a bit strange without.
I see some flickering on the Dunlop bridge. Maybe you can fix this too.



Edit: False alarm. Shadow is there.

Here are some results of my performance testing. I made the first pic of each set while driving, then I hit the pause key and made a second shot. The difference is huge. I would say it has something to do with the reflections, because the reflection map becomes static when pause. I see this on other tracks too but not that much.



 
I have a feeling its the flags, I have them reflecting I'll turn it off and see if that improves it.

edit: nope its not the flags.
edit2: just tried out a few other tracks and percentage wise my increase when paused is pretty much the same on all tracks.

Been working on some low poly vehicles for the environment. Didn't want to just use some from ISI tracks as that would be too easy. Its got a very basic interior aswell.

This is the panel van version, It can also double up as a Tasmanian Ambulance as they use the same model van. that will have a different texture obviously.

Max tri count is 1494 per vehicle, obviously still WIP as i've not finished texturing it and still some optimization to do on the model.

Please, at least make this sharp edges more rounded if possible of course. We really don't want to see this type of edges on tires anymore, even if game is a simulation. Texture wise the car is pretty ok. Keep with good work and thanks for updating us with your work.

I think you're confused, the van is just eye candy for the track not a drivable machine!

Yep you are correct, I'm not going to increase the tri count. TBH if your going around looking at the tyres on vans when your driving your doing it wrong :D
 
Trust me when i tell you it's all in the texture (or should i say photo's I found and moved them around peice by peice)
 
I've mostly finished the texture now, been busy this week so hardly had any time to work on the track or my ambulance/van. I quickly put it in game this evening and actually think it looks rather good for a low poly object.

Pretty much final now, did some tweaks to the material settings and slightly refined the model. 1480 tri's for the ambulance and 1110 tri's for the van.
