I just finished a month on iracing, it was a lot of fun with new cars and tracks I have not raced on before. Good physics and excellent races, ok great. I come back to Rf2, what a fantastic engine, the FFB, the tracks, the feeling of speed, the oceans of content... What the heck this games is excellent!!! I just discovered the Simco WTCC series for free oh my goodness, they are as good as any iracing cars for certain. The RF2 multiplayer is pathetic, such a wasted effort. One race every hour of the same clapped out cars. In the Americas so: Canada , America, Mexico, South America we can't get a couple people together for a night time race? Literally no players online in the americas? This honestly is a crime and one of the biggest shames of the modern world. Can we subvert the crappy pablum, weak sauce one game per hour neutered races nonsense and pay for a single server to serve up some quick games with the free content? like 5min quali 12 min races or something? I'm willing to pay for server time. Let me know if anyone is interested. I get it the game is no longer in development, but come on we have a gem of a game here, lets get some races going !!!
Multiple 5min qualy and 15-20min races per evening was most fun in simracign that I have ever had. And this was going on everyday in Assetto Corsa back in ~2015to2018. ALOOG-1, StreetFight servers were just best. SimracingSystem guys also seemed to know how to manage schedules and content. I also tried iRacing back then. While it was all good, some of the stuff was very high level. But the online racing management was not very good. I really wish something like ALOOG-1 or StreetFight would be happening in rF2 too. But rF2 just doesn't seem to know very well how to "fun", maybe it is the serious nature of being a big sim, or maybe just general lack of spark here and there. Most online racing I know in rF2 are almost always rather serious, in terms of preparation and duration, mostly leagues stuff that you have to find out about. I have tried rF2 online system for few races, I don't think it was too bad. But I see how it is limited in content, and isn't just some random racing.
The online system can only accommodate licensed content, so as much as we wish it had this or that content, unless it's licensed it ain't happening.
Not sure that is correct, I thought they have been testing 3rd Party as well. Beginner's schedule is Radical with Manfeild which is a 3rd party track. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1939323264&searchtext=manfeild
Ok the current system is crippled. It seems like they tried to make an honest effort to have a sensible online system with driver ratings ect. It might have been a good idea, but the game is floundering and this current test for 30min qual 10min then race 20, iracing style is just not working with the limited player base. I believe quick fire races like the above mentioned Assetto Corsa or Project cars / Automobilista would better suit the current state of the game, also would just be plain more fun. Is there a way normal users can set up a server? Low Fuel Motorsport was doing it somehow,.
Thanks for that but is this still relevant to the current build of RF2? That youtube video is 3 years old and the web link showing the server setup seems unchanged from at least 2022. I'm wondering with the current build the "online" section seems as though it can only go through the dedicated RF2 system or is there a way around this?
If it wasn't relevant, then all the folks running servers as seen in Online Racing Discussion | Studio-397 Forum wouldn't be able to do so. When you click the "Online" button, in the lower right of the next screen it says "Servers". That's where you'll find all the servers people are running on their own computer and can join their events (when not passworded).
