I am trying to update an old track to use the real road shader.
I think I have the shader and it's textures set up correctly.
( It does match another track that works )
But when I load the track in dev mode the track is 100% rubber and marbles.
Adjusting the rubber or marbles in the GFX options has no effect.

If I load the track in 3dsimed and check the material the sliders to adjust rubber and marbles do work.
So the road groove and marble textures should be in the right channels.

I have tried deleting the cbash and rrbin files with no effect.

Does anyone have an idea what I am missing here?

Material name is wrong, or mesh is named wrong. Materials need to have _WET suffix, and mesh needs to have racesurface_ prefix.

Mod mode sliders for rubber work?

OK, lets go thru the checklist:

    Material names end with _WET
    Material = real road shader
    All texture maps assigned
Instance and object names = racesurface_
    Instance has deformable tag

In dev mode the gfx settings DO adjust the groove and marbles.
In prod the cbash and rrbin files have been rebuilt
The rrbin file is 28K and has data. So not null like a track without real road

BUT now I see NO rubber after a 10 min session with 10 ai and real road at 15x.

So, thanks Coutie, I was missing the underscore for the object names.
But, that did not fix it :(

    Any other ideas?
    The main textures are DXT3
    Is DXT5 required?

I don't think the format would cause the issue, you might have a different material assigned or something, everything you're doing sounds right.

So far I have added RR to 3 tracks:
    Cascavel. Went quick and easy.
Timaru. Does not work and is the subject of my questions.
Just did The Ridge. Works OK.
    So whats different about Timaru?

( I have also set Timarue to use the mat settings AND all of the textures from a track that works. Still didn't fix it )

    OK, I got it.
The racegroove.dds I was using worked well...at Cascavel.
But, at Timaru is was too small of a change to be seen.
Doing theRidge was the clue. It has a very light track texture.
So I was able to see the groove. But only after a lot of laps by a lot of AI.
I searched and found a different racegroove.dds that was much darker.
I swapped that in and both Timaru and theRidge now have a nice dark groove. :D
