Steam License Problem

I own rFactor 2 retail, verified (Jan 23, 2017) on Steam. I've had to reinstall after rFactor refused to load.

My account shows the product as owned but base content and DLC packages are not available in-game.

The Steam store page shows both “In Library” and “Buy rFactor 2 – $29.99.”
This appears to be a legacy retail package mapping issue between Steam SKUs and my account entitlement.

Steam won't do anything and tells me to contact support@studio-397.com, which has yet to respond in almost a month.

Please review and verify my rFactor 2 account license mapping.

On a fresh install some base content is supposed to automatically be subscribed, I'm not sure exactly how these days (if you need to make a selection, or it just does it) but I've seen a few people say it didn't do anything for them. Sometimes just subscribing to a couple of items (ie track and car) is enough to trigger it, or I think there's a collection on there with S397 stuff too.

Any content you own should show in your inventory on steam, but be aware you can't click on it for reasons. But as long as it shows up, it should end up in the game. You can manage owned content within the game I think.

We've seen this recently, noted by several either new users or users re-installing. It would appear all that content that USED to be automatically downloaded, is now an option. It's all available, but has to be selected and downloaded manually.

My purchase history on Steam shows the DLC I've purchased in the past, but the Store says I don't have any DLC for rFactor. The license system in Steam is screwed up.

The core game is installed and running. I can download and run free content from the workshop, but all the base content and additional content I've purchased is missing/unavailable to download.

If you go to the content manager in-game, you should be able to install it from there if owned.

What base content are you referring to? as the link I have given you, takes you to all the current base content from Studio 397.

In January 2017, rFactor2 would of automatically downloaded ISI content as a first run only function.
So again, I ask you, what base content are you referring to?

Some of the ISI content is not available anymore, because the licences have expired. So again, I ask you, what base content are you referring to?

rF2 doesn't use the DLC system.

Go to your Inventory, select rFactor 2 in there. You can see your owned items, but you can't go into details there ("View workshop item" doesn't work). As Coutie said, you can manage your content within the game.

All the original ISI content is missing.

I assume if I can figure out where I put the CD I can reinstall from there and get it back.

You can't win... lol

Before people didn't recommend rFactor 2 in Steam because it took too long to download
Now people don't recommend rFactor 2 in Steam because it has no content :D

Only engine on the planet does not get recommended because of bad drivers online o_O

It has been explained above, I try again.

BEFORE: You got all ISI and S397 free content automatically downloaded to a fresh install.

NOW: You get nothing apparently for a few reasons. 1. People complain in reviews as I said 2. Some of the content is dated and wasn't getting updates.

I mean what other sim gives you that option, to install what you like ?
You would think it is a Pro ? ( roll-eyes and shrug )

The others links above are mixed content.

So for legacy ISI (Image Space Incorporated) content click here click subscribe what you want.

So for S397 content click here do same.

Click on COLLECTIONS, Browse or Search ( many search patterns available ) for the rest.

In game you can check lists for default, DLC and workshop content ...it should have all green arrows ( installed ready to go )

MOD MANAGER: Handy tool as well.

Your wasting your time hunting for the CD with the ISI base content. All the original ISI content was made for DirectX 9, and is not fully compatible with present day rFactor2, which is DirectX 11. If you install DirectX 9 base content from ISI, you'll find lots of errors like lights not working, no working instruments on the dashboard.
I also have a feeling you'll have no grip, as the tyre physics have changed.

That's good, cuz I don't have a clue where I put it. LOL

Nothing to be sorry for.

ISI is just not meant to be user friendly.
Funny thing is imho it is more user friendly :p
And thanks for reminding me about modmgr - I'd forgotten it was there. Live long enough and you can't remember what you did yesterday. LOL
