Hey ISI, would be that difficult to add an option to bind cockpit warning lights to speed, just like it's possible to do with RPM? In example, instead of naming the material LED182 to a RPM warning light, we could have something like LEDSPD80, the 80 being the speed in km/h (metric system). With that would be possible to extend our dashboads to fit things like the Spek Gauges used in NASCAR, with Pit Road Speed warning lights. *I know we can do it with the RPM values, but if a driver changes the Gear Ratios in the setup, he's definitely going be rewarded with a black flag.
The proper way of doing this would be to rely on RPMs just like in real life. As far as I know NASCAR donĀ“t have speedometers or sensors that measure speed, so the engineers have to set the correct RPM value for that light to work properly. This of course requires them to recalculate if they change the gearing. So we need another setup option to set the appropriate RPM value. And we have it way easier than in real life still, because we can use the HUD or even telemetry to see which RPM results in which speed. Or just use the gearing diagram of the setup screen in the garage. Cheers, Marcus
Actually, Marcus, the Spek gauges have 3 buttons for the driver itself to set those ranges on the fly, and they generally do it during pace laps. The best case scenario would be to have some kind of configuration like that. But a simpler solution as I suggested would work too, as at the end of the day it's all about the speed, not RPM. P.S.: NR2003 had some sort of back-end calculation based on your gear ratios, so the spotter tells you the right RPM value.
