    THIS IS A NON-EYE CANDY MOD and never will be!

    v .93

    This will likely the final physics update for this Mod, unless there are major bugs - next version(s) will include MINOR graphic updates and more skins

    Here's the list of fixes
    eyepoint fixed
    AI speed increased
    oil & water more realistic
    brake temps more realistic
    sound fixes

    I didn't get all of Twista's skins incorporated yet either. Sorry bud. I will get them all in on the next release :)

    Driving Tip
    Be patient with your entry speed! This is the critical mistake that SM drivers make. You can carry tons of speed through turns, but you have to get the entry speed right. If you come in too hot, lift a little and preemptively counter steer.. you can save it to a point :)

    I recommend the following FFB settings:
    G25/27:
    Car Specific FFB MULT = 1.24
    FFB Smoothing = 4
    Steering torque minimum="0.08000"

    T500
    Car Specific FFB MULT = 1.00
    FFB Smoothing = 0
    Steering torque minimum="0.03000"

    I recommend setting your engine volume to 35%. Spec Miatas are LOUD. Setting the this to 35% is effectively the same as wearing ear plugs, plus you'll be able to use TS or Vent and hear the spotter.

    Here are the painting files

    Here's the deal with coloring the other parts of the car
    Materials are mapped as such
    WCExtra0="Interior"
    WCExtra1="Floor"
    WCExtra2="Rims"
    WCExtra3="Cage"

    use SM_INT.psd to create the following files
    SM##Interior.dds
    SM##Rims.dds
    SM##Cage.dds

    use SM_Floor.psd to create
    SM##Floor.dds

    You can also use the WCWINDSHIELDIN.psd and WCWINDSHIELDOUT.psd to make custom windshields
    SM##WCWINDSHIELDIN.dds
    SM##WCWINDSHIELDOUT.dds

    Please report bugs to this thread. I will entertain other suggestions, but I'm really only looking for bugs :)

    Great news! We need more light, low powered trackday cars.

    Anyone willing to take a stab at painting some skins? I've got a "reasonable" photoshop template.

    Oh my go god, amazing. I have just bought a Miata for track so very excited about this mod. Please take your time and don't rush this. Can we also have them without hard tops as most race them open top??

    Thank you for this mod.

    Waoooo, look great! Like other I can't wait to test this car :)

    Which amount of work you still have on it? Can you give us a rough idea when you could release a first version (at least for testing purpose or as "beta")?

    I don't think I already drove this model, seems interesting :)

    Actually a majority of amateur SpecMiata racing in the USA is with the hard tops on.
    The convertible is possible and it was an option with my rf1 version of this mod. I will see what I can do.

    Here's what is done
    • Conversion of meshes from rf1 to rf2
    • Update all meshes to use rf2 texture types
    • LODs for all critical meshes, body parts, wheels, rims, etc.. (rf1 version didn't have LODs)
    • New tire meshes with higher poly counts and better textures
    • New steering wheel mesh and texture
    • Animated driver
    • Complete rework of suspension file
    • Conversion to flexible chassis
    • Revision of painting template to help make skins (this is not a great template though, but useable)
    • Remapping of Extra(x) textures to help color wheel, cage, interior, etc...

    Here's what is needed
    • A few more decent skins
    • Possibly the convertible chassis
    • Testing, testing, testing...

    This MOD will NOT be eye candy! I've done my best with the graphics, but it is what it is...

    These are 100% momentum cars with barely over 100 hp and huge amounts of grip. Ask me how I know... well I own one. The skin in the original post is my car.

    Here's a pic of me at MotorSports Ranch in real life

    pay attention to the G meter. I'm an amateur and can still easily exceed 1 lateral g.

    The only way to go fast in these cars is to carry speed through the turns, which requires grip!

    I think some folks might be turned off by these due to the grip level, but actually driving them at the limit is challenging.

    They will provide a good medium for some really close racing.

    I'm hoping to have the initial version out this week.

    This could be a great 'go to' car in rf2, as others take your time, you drive these things so physics should be great!!

    no pressure mate lol!! :)

    yeah right ;) The physics are done for v1. I'm happy with the way it handles. I can take it into a corner exactly like I do my real miata - it takes a set and sticks perfectly. If I carry too much speed in, it behaves accordingly - saveable, but you better have fast hands :)
