Hi guys, it's me again with my tires and their noise, but this is the last time, I promise. I have continued to search for the best braking and skidding sounds and I think I have arrived at a result that seems satisfactory in the current state of what can be done with the elements we can have. You will find hereafter the new files which make obsolete the ones I have posted until now. I have added the exterior sounds which I have increased a little bit the amplitude so that they are audible and I have added the whistling of the brakes for the cars with steel brakes. Cars with carbon brakes do not generate this whistling effect. Please note that these sounds may sound different depending on the vehicle used. This is because the other sounds are not all at the same level and depend on the vehicle. For the Mercedes AMG GT3, I have integrated the routine allowing the adjustment of hunting (thanks to its author). You will find below, for those who are interested, the routine I wrote to achieve all this (it is the same for all cars): UpgradeType="SOUNDS" { UpgradeLevel="SKID SOUNDS (INSIDE)" { // SKID SOUNDS SFX=ScrubIndividually=1 // set to 1 to play individual sounds SFX=ScrubFreq=(1.0,-0.25,0.005,-0.00002) // (<base>,<grip>,<speed>,<load>) SFX=VS_INSIDE_TIRE_SCRUB=0.8, TMTires\tyres_asphalt_scrub_semislick_in.wav SFX=VS_INSIDE_SKID_DRY=0.8, TMTires\tyres_asphalt_skid_semislick_in.wav SFX=VS_INSIDE_SKID_WET=1.6, TMTires\skid2_wet_in.wav SFX=VS_INSIDE_SKID_GRASS=1.0 TMTires\grassskid_in.wav SFX=VS_INSIDE_SKID_DIRT=1.0 TMTires\gravelskid_in.wav SFX=VS_INSIDE_SKID_GRAVEL=1.0 TMTires\gravelskid_in.wav SFX= } UpgradeLevel="original sounds" { SFX=ScrubIndividually=0 } } UpgradeType="SOUNDS " { UpgradeLevel="SKID SOUNDS (OUTSIDE)" { SFX=VS_OUTSIDE_TIRE_SCRUB=2.2,TMTires\tyres_asphalt_scrub_semislick_ex.wav SFX=VS_OUTSIDE_SKID_DRY=2.2,TMTires\tyres_asphalt_skid_semislick_ex.wav SFX=VS_OUTSIDE_SKID_WET=4.4,TMTires\tyres_asphalt_skid_semislick_ex.wav SFX=VS_OUTSIDE_SKID_GRASS=1.4,TMTires\grassskid_ex.wav SFX=VS_OUTSIDE_SKID_DIRT=1.4,TMTires\gravelskid_ex.wav SFX=VS_OUTSIDE_SKID_GRAVEL=1.4,TMTires\gravelskid_ex.wav SFX= } UpgradeLevel="original sounds" { SFX= } } UpgradeType="BRAKES" { instance="BRAKE HISS" UpgradeLevel="Brake Hiss" { Description="Implementation of Brake Hiss" { SFX=VS_INSIDE_BRAKES_LOW=1.0,TMTires\brakes_low_in.wav // low-speed SFX=VS_INSIDE_BRAKES_HIGH=1.0,TMTires\brakes_high_in.wav // high-speed SFX=VS_OUTSIDE_BRAKES_LOW=1.5,TMTires\brakes_low_ex.wav // low-speed SFX=VS_OUTSIDE_BRAKES_HIGH=1.5,TMTires\brakes_high_ex.wav // high-speed SFX=BrakeRampSpeed=3.0 // volume ramps up to this speed SFX=BrakeBlendSpeeds=(8.0, 23.0) // blends between low- and high-speed brake hiss SFX=BrakeFadeSpeeds=(23.0, 42.0) // fades out high-speed brake hiss between these speeds SFX=BrakePressure=0.20 // defines how brake pressure affects brake hiss volume SFX= } UpgradeLevel="No Brake Hiss" { Description="No Brake Hiss" SFX= } } I remain at your disposal for any further information. Hi, is it possible to use this method to make a mod to tweak sounds volume? Like if I want to hear tyre sounds louder?
Not with the new DLC cars, no. You'd have to make a whole new vehicle and a sound json file for it, or a new .sfx file based on the above. You can't modify/adjust the new sound engine files. There's definitely a transition period in adapting to the new sounds, especially if you're used to loud tyres.
So, I guess, all the modification listed above (replacing sounds with the use of the "...-upgrade.ini" will not work in online racing right? Because the server will allow only the orginal DLC content to be used, correct? We can make a new MOD, but if the server is not using it, there is no way one can run a sound-modified car, right? Regarding the "transition" ... meh ... I'm driving using the swingman view, and I cannot hear ANY sounds coming from the tyres. Not even when in a corner I'm overheating them to 120deg. Only when the car starts spinning 360deg then I'm hearing a faint skidding sound. Is this normal? Like this it is impossible to understand how close I'm to the limit. FFB is not always telling you. And in ANY CASE: why removing the option that was already there? You want 100% realistic sound? To set everything to 100% I really don't get how removing the possibility to customize the sound volumes makes the game better. It is like if one day they remove the graphics settings, leaving only ultra-max setting, because that will make the game more realistic; or if they start making modifications to the setup to take the correct amount of time, like 20min to change camber (because in real life it's like that); or if they remove the possibility to change the weather, leaving only a real-time, real-weather setup, because that is more realistic. All listed above will make the game more realistic, but will it make a BETTER game?
Correct, your modified version is different and couldn't be used online unless the server had the same modified car.
