Extract to folder - Steam\steamapps\common\rFactor 2\UserData\HRTF\default Select 1 SADIE H06 in game sound options. The sound seems to have more body and sounds fuller with this file, it's not a huge change but I think worth while. You probably need good headphones or speakers to hear the benefit. The file is a LMU file which I copied over. Have fun.
I have just downloaded it and it worked perfectly for me. Have you got the latest version of Winrar 7.01.
Just click close in the dialog box that appears. You can use it indefinitely you just need to click close each time you use winrar.
For those who have tried : Do you see any improvements, if so which ones, and is there some consistency in the improvements regardless of the content, without some of the content being degraded ? And thank you @Highlandwalker for sharing
As I wrote in my first post it's only a small improvement and you need good quality headphones or speakers to hear it. I have a separate sound card, I haven't tried it with the onboard sound so can not comment about that. The sound just sounds a bit fuller and has more body to it. The Aston Martin GTE in particular has a bit more growl to the exhaust note and the kerb noise is a bit more pronounced. I've heard the improvement in every thing I have tried so far. Give it a go and form you own opinion.
I have rechecked and there is no problem with the zip file. Have you got the latest version of Winrar 7.01. Open zip file and drag file to this folder Steam\steamapps\common\rFactor 2\UserData\HRTF\default Hope this helps.
There is no probs I just telling anyone uses 7zip you must run it as admin to save option changes in pics. Those changes will let you use the right click context menu and open any compressed files. That's all I did use multi compression apps however I have used 7Zip exclusively ever since I started old gmotor "Essentials" packs ( don't ask lol ) mainly because 7zip had better compression and is faster. My GTR2 Essentials was 500K of files and 1.5GB and compressed untold times before new version so fastest compression saved time. Where as in basic zips you would not notice the difference between 7zip or Winrar https://www.7-zip.org/
I would only note that a benefit of HRTF is better audio positioning. This is quite personal and there’s a video (of many, no doubt) with 50+ profiles where only a handful (and sometimes none) work well for each person. I don’t think it’s meant to be about sound balance, and would probably lean towards an equaliser for that purpose. Using an HRTF profile that doesn’t suit you might lead to the nice positional sounds in rF2 ending up in weird places. Also worth noting these are only used in headphone mode, and won’t work properly with speakers (selecting headphones in game, and playing on stereo speakers, isn’t the same thing).
Changes to audio tend to be identified as improvements compared to what our ear is used to. Changing the equalization or the amp/speaker setup can make an old record sound new again and thus it feels like it sounds better. When we'll get used to a new HRTF profile, changing it or even going back to the old one can be perceived again as an improvement. We're probably just perceiving the sound is more interesting because it has changed and we pay more attention to the changes in contrast to the boring old sound we're already used to. If our goal is correct positional audio, we need headphones and the correct HRTF profile for our head.
