Yesterday, I had a league race, on which I didnt get to race because the server I was supposed to join, wasnt showing up in the server browser. I tried to restart my pc, nothing worked. I restarted my modem/router, nothing worked again. I disabled all of my firewall/antivirus, nothing worked.... again. It was weird as it only showed 220-230 servers on my browser, while it shows 300-340 servers on my teammates browser. Based on this, im only seeing two thirds of the total servers that im supposed to see.

Anyone else having this problem? Is there a solution to this? I recently checked again, its the same, 100 servers missing....

tl;dr A lot of servers, around 100 out of 300, are not showing up in the server browser. Restarted everything, disabled all firewalls, etc. Nothing worked.

I can'tehlp because I don't know how many servers there are. I can say that if you are using a VPN unblock service you will see less.

Sometimes it's out of your control. I once lost connection because my internet went down for a second, could only see 80 servers (in Steam list and in game launcher), a few minutes later all the servers were visible again.
You can do a direct connect to the server tho, dont remember well how you do it but there should be some topics here in this forum teaching how to do it, just ask for someone already online to give you the server ip which they can see by right clicking on the server (using Steam server viewer) and then Server Info.

    Hi
Sorry I don't remember witch file it is , player file or config file or server file but there is or used to be a setting on how many servers to show in the list.
This was a couple years back when I had a similar prob.
I am away from my comp but if I remember right I set it to 300 ?
Hopefully someone Here will remember witch file.

@Ariff Why don't you use a direct link to the server?
Go to the folder '..\Steam\steamapps\common\rFactor 2\Launcher'
Rightclick on the 'Launch rFactor.exe' and select 'create Shortcut"
Move the created Shortcut to the desktop and rename it, that you know for which server it is
Rightclick on the shortcut and select 'properties'
In the field 'target', add a space and then '+connect serverIP:Port'
If the server requires a password, add the space and '+connect serverIP:Port +password Password'
The bold values have to be replaced with the proper values.
    It should look like this:
    "..\Steam\steamapps\common\rFactor 2\Launcher\Launch rFactor.exe" +connect=serverIP:Port
    If it's done, click ok.
To join the server, only open steam and click on the shortcut.
That should connect you to the server directly.

THIS WORKS!!! Im surprised and shocked, and confused at the same time.

but still though, what the fuck is the reason behind this? sorry for the profanity, its just that, a lot of practice went to waste because of this issue, money as well (league fees) :( for the past 2 years as well lol

Works because, obviously, it's a direct connect command, you dont need the lobby to connect to servers, only to see them in the window.
If your server use Live Racers you can connect to that via the +Join button in the server page. Just watch for a confirmation from Steam alerting you about it, click Ok, done.

i understand that it works, but why wouldnt the browser in rf2 and steam itself be able to find the server?

    Personnal experience :
When I use a 4G connection I have only a few servers listed compared to when I use the wired connection, even with other games.
I don't have any explanation, but I wonder why would that be too. Maybe it is related to some "ping"or response time within the Steam application ?
