[REL] SMMG Formula 3 Series (2019-2020-2021-2022-2023-2024) 2.20

I tried last weekend in Bahrein and it seems a lot faster than real life. While I used almost standard setup with Medium compounds and full fuel driving on 1.46 pace without DRS, the real cars pace was 1.51/1.52 on race. I know it could be differences on track state but it is 5 seconds!! And I'm sure with setup you can improve, I'm not an alien driver.

 

Mod was tuned, since the time of the GP3, closed to the real car for what is possible, due to a lot of variables. At Sakhir, like other tracks, the comparison is obviously on fast lap, that last weekend was 1.46

IRL race pace and tire wear, etc. like track conditions and driving style cannot be compared with a mod and a simmer driving style...

During the development we have also tested lap times on several tracks and we got closed times vs. real life data.

 

Well, I checked technical Regulations and probably tyre compounds are very different from 2019 to 2022. Furthermore, they have a tyre allocation of only 4 sets for all the weekend. That would explain maybe some differences.

Well, I did some investigation regarding compounds used from Pirelli on F3 2019 races. Not only tyre allocation for all the weekend is a thing. I tested yesterday in Silverstone with standard setup, hard compound and without any change in tyre pressures. Result was very near to race pace in real life. So excellent work.

In Bahrein I think times are a bit faster but I used Medium tyres with minimum pressure, while in real life they used new Hard compound for this year, so my first test wasn't very good to compare.

for... nothing atm. The manual shows "reserved for future purposes", as well as the big central rotator where we added the SMMG logo.

Build 1.84, April 20th, 2022:

• added 2022 Season
• added new 2022 steering wheel
• replaced inside cockpit painted with carbon fiber
• updated main template
• fixed some minor things

Note: few helmet are still black carbon and will be painted later.

 

I think this mod has some issues with reflections, I remember something similar with an older version. For example, I tried Smolyer car that is red and looks nicer in sunny weather with external cameras, but when you drive in cockpit view, car looks another colour, much more lighter. Gloves has a crystal effect with very strange reflection, so there is an issue with the material properties.

 

How color/tone/reflection/etc. work on body can also be a personal choice and I tried to set values for PBR in a way to be realistic in my opinion.
About the "gloves affair", you are right, but don't forget that gloves and driver's suit allow rain drops to be visible and the specific shader in use for having the effect became worse than before, due to the changes made in the last 2 months by S397 for "improving" rain. My personal opinion is that rain drops and the whole rain wasn't improved. I'll look at some workaround for improving the look keeping the rain drop effect...
