After posting an article about the mod release, it was brought to my attention that this mod contains a vast amount of ripped content. Can someone in here confirm that statement?
I would say it is a hughe effort to make such conversion. I personally dont care about it, well done.
For sure it is but its even bigger effort doing it from scratch. Here and there some credit to the original author would be nice dont you think? And made a note that its conversion and not scratch made work?
I thought Steam was supposed to prevent unauthorized content. If we are not careful, we may end up only being able to use the ISI originals.

On that subject the 488 sounds are VERY similar to your Ferrucio. Maybe they just have the same source though. It's all done very though and great fun.
Steam has no real ability to curate Workshop. Just look at some of the more popular games with workshops and the amount of stuff there is. There simply is no way that Steam could somehow reasonably manage those Workshops not to mention do some due diligence about the origins of the mods. And it is just not the originality of mods, but there is so much stuff in the Workshops that are at least in the gray area, for example pretty much everything in Tabletop Simulator's Workshop. And when talking about racing simulators, what about car mods and liveries with trademarked logos? Even modders making everything from scratch should have a permission to use those brands in their work, but I'm quite certain that it is pretty rare that modders ask permission from Ferrari to release a car model of their brand. Companies rarely enforce their rights on mods distributed non-commercially, but it doesn't change the fact that owners of trademark hold the right to their brands. There are so many angles here when we are talking about modding "real life" stuff and unautuhorized conversions are just a small part of it. About this particular mod, I didn't know that it included non-original content when I made the thread and discussions about this started later mainly on RD forums.
You cant have same source if our sounds were done from scratch actually And there is no way 2 different sound guys would make a complete match but i cant say about sounds right now as i didnt check them yet. Mercedes is from AC, Mclaren is from AC-URD did that one for Kunos and i have source files here so. 488 is real racing 3 model. Bentley is pCars... Tire textures are urd content-treads are even named URD there. Camaro is ISI content i think?
