Thanks Zemaniac - its a lot cooler than a gaming chair and it works out a little cheaper. I am still not happy with the top fairing but that is about as good as I can make with my limited skills. I will start fiber- glassing this week. The whole body will be covered in a light skin of glass cloth and epoxy. This will be tougher than painted wood and should have a better finish too. I built it to be strong enough for the motion rams- http://www.simxperience.com This will have to wait until funds alow though From what I can see would need to pay close to $2,000 for a three motion system just for the actuators and controller !
Glad that my first post it was helpful , there you can find everything, to attach analog instruments, digital, led, whatever is needed, it's a must for a complete real cockpit Keep up the good work you are doing there m8
Bl++din' step daughter and her two friends here from Belgium past week No progress at all......... and expensive too of course ! Still - they had a great time and it was lovely to see them Wind tunnel tests will start once I've put the wheels on LesiU. That flat front end might be a tad draggy tho'
Bought the wheels yesterday. Couldn't afford alloys so steel will have to do Love the low profile tyres. Pit stops will be interesting - anybody know where I can find SnowWhites number for my pit crew View attachment 1397 View attachment 1398
My budget of 300 Euro could have been realistic to finish this had I just painted it with Dulux but I'm really getting into it now. Glassing began tonight - but jeez .....what a price ! 5 meters of 160g cloth came to almost 50 Euro - plus the resin and hardener. It's exciting tho' seeing it getting so close to completion.......... View attachment 1475
Thanks Seledad. I didn't get anything done for two weeks due to work commitments and the Mallorca Classic Rally - which was last week. I am ready for spraying the primer - hopefully next week
Aha !!! Ye of little faith As of May 1st I was laid off from work Lots of stuff happened from then - two trips to Suisse for business holidays and now I am back .................. AND finishing the project at last.
Time to rub off all that horrible grey filler. 4 coats of primer, God knows how many sheets of wet and dry..... and no fingertips View attachment 3216 View attachment 3217
Not really "Rivets" - they are actually upholstery pins but they're a similar size and shape to the originals View attachment 3222
Now the exciting bit - almost 100 Euros and a liter of paint later !!! ...... green fingers View attachment 3223
Lots of "orange peel" with the paint - but almost a weeks work with varying grades of wet and dry and I'm happier with the results. Mirrors came from MGB hive and look great. The big hole in the front bulkhead is for the Tactile Transducer amplifier. View attachment 3277
Interior work is now in progress. White primer but finish will be in light grey gloss (should be matt but gloss will be harder wearing). View attachment 3278
The real car didn't have an interior with eyelets but I think it looks really cool and 'Sixties with them. Not much foam in there - just like the real thing View attachment 3328
