Can some one help me with setting up SC4 with RFactor 2. Do I need a plugin for the RFactor 2.When I click my RF2 tab in SC4 I get a this error : exacutating game plugin pre launch ! Please help thanks.
Yes. I'm at work so details will not be exact. Look through the Simcommander or Simxperience folder in whatever folder it is inatalled in C drive, Program Files or Program (86) for a maybe a Game Plugin folder. You are looking for a .dll file with rfactor2 and 64bit or just 64. Okay, far from exact, more vague Once you have the dll put in rF2's Bin64/ plugin folder. You may have to activate the dll in rf2.
Go To: X:\SimXperience\Sim Commander 4\Plugins\GameFolderPlugins\rFactor2 Place the latest plugin (SimXperience_4_0_x64.dll) into: X:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\rFactor 2\Bin64\Plugins
Straight to the point, no monkeying around. Well done @Magus I seem to recall that if Steam and rF2 are installed in their default locations then SimX will automatically do the dirty work with plugins etc. I have no idea if that black magic stuff works because my Steam is all on it's own little ssd. I'll give you my settings details for SC4/rF2 I'm pretty sure they're still correct. In the basic settings Game Plugin: rFactor2 (Steam) Game Plugin ( I don't have Steam installed in it's default C:/ location so I will start from the Steam folder.) Game Exe: Steam\steamapps\common\rFactor 2\Launcher\Launch rFactor.exe In Advanced settings Parameters: -applaunch 365960 -silent Wait On: rfactor2.exe To start the game I have Steam and SC4 running, then I just double left mouse click the rF2 icon in SC4
I had trouble with Sim commander running when on a server (when I hosted from inside rF2) so I changed this setting to un-check the box "game runs on local PC" (see image) and make sure the check box is ticked for "Watch for this game to be started outside the commander" Hope that is of some assistance.
@JimmyT I understand what you mean with those two tickbox options (well sort of with my impressive server knowledge "select Join, select Race". Had you ever tried with the game.exe set with the launcher.exe as I have?
If you host from within rF2, (not stand alone) sim commander sees the server as the game and can't give feedback. Haven't tried it any other way since I changed the setting and it works for all game types (within rF2) you just have to manually start both rF2 and SC4 :-( I had the launcher and game linked before though.
Hi @JimmyT I have the problem with no shakers working when hosting within rf2, I've looked at the settings in my simcommander, but in mine there is no box called "watch for this game to be started outside the commander" how did you get your box? or did they remove it in a update? Thanks
Thomas you have to have the rF2 game hilighted in the left panel (see the pic in my earlier post where it says rFactor2 steam) If you haven't selected a game that selection isn't available.
Also make sure SimCommander is up to date. I think that option about watching the game was added in a update a while ago.
The game is highlighted on the left, but still no box (don't know if Im doing it right) My SimCommander version is 4.1.3.560 and it says that it is up to date.
Will check when I get home and see if I can find that for you. The feature has been in there for a while as I've been running a server for 2 years and haven't changed the settings in SC. Don't forget, when you run the server from within rF2 SC sees the server as the game, that's why I turned off [game runs on local PC]
OK so now I've had a look and you have to be in Home screen in SC with the rF2 set at the front (see pic 1), then click Control Centre Button, Go to settings, Advanced (see pic 2) and check the [monitor for external game launches] box. That should do it.
I'll second that. @JimmyT Out of interest, any reason the Login and Check for updates at start up boxes are unticked? Tell me to piss off and mind my own business if need be.
Piss off and mind your own business. Without the auto update, the program starts a touch quicker and I know that it will run just like last time. It's one of my pet hates, having my programs "made better" without option (windows, oculus, steam, steam VR, next Level). You know get home want a quick race before having to get dinner on the go, turn on the PC......wait an hour for all the updates on my s l o w i n t e r n e t and then having to spend an hour making it all work together again. It's like politicians, they all talk, just not to each other. Similar to herding cats. So if I have the choice I will do it when I have the time to sort out any issues. In other words "paranoia"
Ya didn't have to write all the distracting stuff. You did give me a bit of a moment. Not at you though, but me. I'm the same, stick your auto "it works fine so let's break it so we still have a job" updates up ya date. It dawned on me when I read your post that I have auto updates turned off on everything except sim related programs, Teamspeak, Sim commander etc. Seems to work for me thankfully. I'm 99% sure I can say that in 10 years of online sim racing I've never had an update from any program interfere while racing. I don't really have any sympathy when someone complains that Windows or nVidia etc updated some hardware driver and now have some sort of problem. All the info to avoid such a problem is only a google search away. If a dumb old steelfixer can work it out by himself it can't be that hard.
Oculus has stopped me while racing because it just says "update time" Dumb old fitter here. If it doesn't fit, force it. If it breaks, you probably needed a new one anyway.
They deserve a size 10 steel cap boot to the Jatz crackers for that. What sort of knob heads make software for a gaming peripheral that interrupts you while gaming?
