It's not a bug IMO, you have to cross the pitlane entry line for the game to recognise that you have entered pitlane and you were nowhere near it. The line "usually" extends a little either side of the pavement, but for it to extend to where you were, would then have anyone having an off from the main track receiving a speeding in pitlane penalty.
It’s not a bug, it’s a fault with reality if you didn’t cross that line and the pit crew still serviced your car just because you came into the pits
I suppose it could be changed so that entering the pit box however allows you to have a pit stop. On exit (tends to be more easily defined due to walls) if there was speeding after the pit in line which could be wider but hidden if not on track then you get a speeding in pit lane?
