G'Day, Silverstone is the largest location to date as it has now passed IS LRP by 100mb. I am happy to report that even if I receive a 10FPS drop out under my capped framerate there are no stutters. Nice one guys, smooth moves! Whatever you guys optimised on this location is doing the trick. This is still not the case for all other IS locations particularly LRP & Palm Beach. 1 frame dropped ends in big stutters. Hopefully they will get tweaked in future releases. I have an ongoing thread regarding this: http://isiforums.net/f/showthread.php/12713-Framerate-Dropoff-Stutering-only-for-ISI-tracks-%28build-218%29/page2 cheers mm
Ran my mouth or fingers a little soon. I just tested the C6 v1.42 and compared to a Formula Masters I get stutters even though the frame drop outs & FPS performance are on par with each other. Both with mirrors off as this is a separate resource issue. Strange...
My thoughts exactly. High on Silverstone should effectively be the same as full everywhere else. Weird that you get that much difference with the cars though... What are your system specs? Have you posted before trying to troubleshoot the stuttering? I suspect if you can run Silverstone that well, once you get rid of the stutters, you'll do fine.
When online? Player lag? It could be if people are using settings too high for their system. Low FPS could cause their client to maybe be poorly connected...
Yes, online! I have joined 3 different servers and in all of them was present ! After doing some tests, it seems that road/environment reflections are the fps killler in this circuit , so advice every one to put road and enviroment on low!
I too have the worst FPS here in the Corvette. It droped to 15fps. I run everything on max with FXAA no AA and HDR off. I've ran rfactor 2 like that since its came out. Other tracks I usually get 50 60fps. With 20 AI cars. I did get some stutters at estoril and Portland, but they were manageable. I only run offline. Here the performance has dropped, but I think its more so with rfactor 2 than the track. The last 2 core updates I've been getting random FPS drops, I usually have to exit the sim a few times to get it back to normal. My system is: Intel I7 920 at 3.5ghz Crossfire 5870s runing 13.4 official Cat drivers Asus Xonar Essence STX I disabled crossfire and the performance was worst so it wasn't that. I'll try some other cars just to see if it is indeed something to do with the corvettes.
I figured out why my FPS was droping so bad, I had AA forced on, so I set it back to game perfered. Still sitting in the pits the FPS where around 20 or so. So drove out anyway and so far its after 3 laps the stuttering goes away and things start smoothing out in the vette and FPS climb back into where it usually is for me at most tracks. I had 68 max in one section. I did take the Nissan GT1 out and the FPS was much better in that I was seeing 80fps max in that same section where the S corners are after the orginal S/F line used to be. Could be due to the graphical updates to the C6R cockpit, but as it stands it takes takes 3 to 5 laps for things to smooth out, at leased on my system. Only seems to happen after you first load the track and get into the car too.
i had this problem too, 2GB Vram and 4 GB Ram, solved this problem to set Texture Details from Max to High, not more, now I have the FPS, I have to expect
@ Tim W - My specs are ok except for my age old donkey GPU. I am waiting on a 7990. I know this the weakest link. On all IS tracks prior to Silverstone if I don't keep the GPU under 80% load I get massive stutters even with 1 frame drop out. That still baffles me a little as the GPU is not maxed out but hey I have just come to except it that my GPU is old and I do realise these tracks are heavily resource hungry. BTW CPU, DISK, MEM & TEMPS are all good. This issue with Silverstone is a little different. I pushed the settings up to load the GPU to 95% and I did see massive frame drop outs of 10-15FPS however 99/100 times it doesn't stutter with the Formula Masters but that is not the case when running the C6. Again strange as they are putting the GPU under the same load with the FPS dropouts are the same. PC Specs: i7 3930k @ 4.5Gz - HT Disabled Memory: 16GB Disk: SSD Video: HD4890 - 1GB OC M/B: Rampage IV Formula Monitor: 27" @ 1080p @ 120hz @2ms Wheel = CSR Elite
OMG you got a i7 3930k @ 4.5Gz and have a HD4890 with 1gb vram, man it must suck to know what the problem is here. Your running out of VRAM dude, tip: get 2gb min 3 is better for rfactor, do you also have quad channel ram? All the fancy AA you add will murder your VRAM better to get a VRAM monitor to see what your GFX card is doing. I just ordered a 780 with 3GB because 2GB is not enough.
LOL... This is ridiculous. I got here 20 FPS in this "wonderful" track. Yes, it could be nice to admire, take screenshots etc, but it's simply unplayable. This 90's engine cannot handle with this level of polys and textures. I'm wondering what's the ISI point, seriously. 433 Mb for a track which cannot be rendered even in powerful systems. If you have 20 cars in front of you, there's less than 10 FPS in a 3700K overclocked 4.8 Ghz and high-end GPUs, top mainboard, 16 Gb RAM and all stuff optimized. In other hand, all of modern titles with much better graphics are running flawless +60FPS always. There's no point to insist on it, I'm done with. And the funniest thing is the OP thanking by his 10 FPS less...
@ Bart S - As mentioned I have recognised the GPU is the weak link and soon this will be replaced. I get stutters even when my vram is only between 700-800 mb and GPU load under/around 90%. I have also ran tests with in game AA off and off through catalyst... @ Satangoss - You may have some valid points regarding the engine but this is not my area to dispute. I am not sure however according to wiki they use ISIMotor 2.5, not gMotor and it wasn't developed in the 90's. Initially I was just happy that I didn't receive stutters compared to other IS tracks. Which turned out to be not entirely true. All I was simply saying was if they did some sort of optimisation different to LRP then please apply this to earlier created tracks. I understand that rF2 is in beta phase however with the release of the demo id say they are not far off official release. I could be wrong. It is disappointing to read so many paid up loyal customers with hardcore rigs not getting the performance they should expect. I to hope IS do address this as your proof that customers will jump ship in search of a better product. Compared to rF1 there is alot more competition now so the likelihood of this is always greater.
I think Assetto Corsa will pick off a fair few rF2 users (or prospective buyers). Many just want a game with great physics and visuals and from what I've seen AC will deliver both - plus modding. Some of rF2's selling features such as real road and dynamic lighting/weather won't be a huge draw for many.
There you go, I ran my trusty Sebring which never skips a beat and for the first time I got the occasional stutter. Running the new C6 1.42 of course. GPU topped out 61% and VRAM at only 567mb. Something not right with the new C6.
Dude! Something is WRONG! I tried Sebring with spark f1 and 20 fps??? Just let me know when the next non-crap build is released. I'm done.
LMAO ie: I thought that is funny to toss over a sim for one track, hehehe, it was no different a thing I would type in chat online if you said the same. ? Was not sarcasm. If anything my performance seems to get better every build , I do not get stutter or lag either ( I used to with GTX460) and am increasingly perplexed why so many do.
