But you need to make a mod to create the race event You have the instructions here in the first post. I've created the mod/rfm. I've been setting event servers for years now. That's not the issue. Thanks for the attempted help, but there's no point jumping in with this type of suggestion. Here's the issue after creating the mod and trying to set the server: Every other mod I've created over the years offers car choices. The McLaren GT3 doesn't. I've read the bit about unlock keys etc, and followed those instructions multiple times, but still have the same issue, as pictured above.
Does the rfmod that you are trying to host show the cars in single player mode? I guess not but just to confirm.
Oh, sorry i didn't understand you correctly. Do you have all the folders in \rFactor 2\Installed\Vehicles\McLaren_650S_GT3_2017\? 1.01 1.22 1.23 I had to upload one of them to our server. I think that was the 1.22, but i'm not sure.
Ross, 1. Uninstall the vmod and the car; 2. Put both 1.22 & 1.23 rfcmp's in your packages folder 3. Open mod manager and install v1.22 4. Hit the refresh button top right in mod manager 5. V1.23 should now be available as an update in mod manager, update it 6. Create vmod Apart from step 1 this is how I did it on our server
I did exactly like you describe when Mclaren was released and the car filter was empty when I was trying to create vmod to non SteamCMD dedicated server. The problem is that if you don`t open single player before creating vmod game somehow don`t validate ServerUnlock.bin and cars are not visible in car filter. I believe that this is the problem OT is experiencing. There is no point to copy and paste ServerUnlock.bin from a different PC it don`t work when you are hosting from the Steam using rFactor 2. I went back to my notes and this is how solved my problem: 1. Shut down Steam 2. Uninstall the vmod and the car with mod manager(32bit folder). 3. Put both 1.22 & 1.23 rfcmp's in your packages folder 3. Install v1.22 with mod manager. 4. Hit the refresh button top right in mod manager 5. V1.23 should now be available as an update in mod manager, update it. 6. Open Steam, launch rFactor 2, open single player once and close. 6. Create vmod This thread is when you are hosting with standalone SteamCMD dedicated Server and it is not relevant when you are hosting from from Steam using rFactor 2: https://forum.studio-397.com/index.php?threads/how-to-hosting-with-steamcmd-and-paid-content.57209/
Although for AC, I was referring to something like this: Hopefully it can be eased up in the nearby future and maybe supported by a YouTube video.
Hi Goanna. Thanks for the list: Ross, 1. Create vmod Apart from step 1 this is how I did it on our server However: 1/. When I load the rf2 Content Manager on the Dedi, I see both 1.22, and 1.23 versions of the car listed, but the 'Uninstall' button is greyed out, so I can't inunstall that way. The vmod (mod/rfm) that wasn't working has already been uninstalled. 2/. Where are any rfcmp's? I have the McLaren 650s on the Server and on my Race PC. The files were installed through the Steam Workshop, and there are no rfcmp files? I only have the Mclaren files in the 'Installed>Vehicles>McLaren_650S_GT3_2017 Folder. 3/, 4/, 5/, and 6/. are not really relevant given the issues in 1 and 2. Ari: I uninstalled the Mclaren 650s v1.22 and v1.23 using the 32bit mod manager. They're now uninstalled, and I have no record of the cars on the Dedi. I have no rfcmp files. How do I re-install them? Also, when looking at the GT3 pack on Steam, I see that both on the Dedi and my Race PC, it now suggests that I don't own the GT3 pack. This is unbelievably frustrating.
you should find the rfcmp's in ....Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\365960\1097229192 folder copy both 1.22 and 1.23 rfcmp's to your dedi server's packages folder and then you should be back at my point #3... hang in there
Thank you. I see it in there. Should I have known to look in this folder? I see I have many many folders in the content area, so knowing to look in this one not a clear choice for me
Thanks Goanna, the 6 point list has now worked. I'd have never thought to do that process, but it's worked. I've just setup and joined our dedi server without issue. I guess now, they'll release the Bentley and I'll be back to square one with setting a new mod/rfm etc. Thanks for your patience in the replies.
no probs, good to see you got it going....Bently when it comes should be the same process (as long as S397 doesn't change anything beforehand)
just a simple question guys, is this post about launch a gt3 server on a steam dedicated server user that didn't purchase the content? thx in advance
