His wife is planning on building an ICU at their home so he can return home. Touching.

Days after I read another article saying "may never wake up". Wish him the best, but I think I am done reading stories about it now. Hopefully that will mean others do, the press leave them alone and I'll catch a headline one day about him actually awake.

I just remember (and I know it's totally different), seeing Senna twitch on an overhead camera after his car came to rest. "Oh, he's moving" I said to myself. I'm just done...

His slight improvement has been reported by sabine kehn and was the most commented topic at bahrein's paddock yesterday. I think the other article you comment is not coming from official sources.

    I take your point Tim...

Probably just best to wait for something more definite and hope it`s good news.

I'm not telling you what to do (didn't close the thread, etc), it just is starting to feel 'wrong' to me for me to be involved. But then I was offered to meet him in 2012 and turned it down because I don't want to bother people. I know I'm not bothering Sabine or Michael, but it feels like it inside.

I didn`t think for a second you were telling me what to do. :)

I just see the point your making and what you feel about it and I agree...

All I really hope is that if Schumi`s going to "wake up" that he wakes up as Schumi... the old Schumi. Obviously not jumping in any more F1 cars etc but him, as he was mentally... I honestly think the chances of this now, after so long are really not that great but I`ll always hope until that`s proved otherwise.

Let`s hope the next news we all hear is really good news. :)

he could make a very very close to full recovery, people have been in an induced coma for much longer,
although the longer the duration the longer it takes for recovery ( if possible as every case is different)

apparently doctors bring them out of a coma state almost each day & wait for signs of a mild panic/struggle or the usual reactions to waking up, if no signs they increase dose again to take them back into deep sleep

this news is very good it indicates that he has started to react to being much closer to consciousness
I hope there is more positive news over the next week or so

hoping there is no permanent lasting damage, could take him about 2 years to get back to normality again

(this is only based on a friend who was in a similar position etc who was under for about 8 months can you believe)
but is totally fine now & back at work (after a long & hard recovery )
it was also a ski accident, although he dosnt remember the incident it is believed he hit a tree

I'm really happy to hear that Michael Schumacher is finally showing signs of progress.
That said, this has got to be one of...if not the most irritating news stories in sports history for some time.
You don't really have to be a favorite or follow any one driver/team to get the human aspect of this.
While I respect the privacy of his family and friends, Ms Kehm really should have stopped commenting months ago.
She was 'talking' but saying absolutely nothing.
Like it or not, MS is one of the most recognizable figures in the world.
It's natural for most people to genuinely care about his well-being.
If they're not prepared to give specifics (without violating his privacy of course)... on how he's doing, then stay out of the media and don't comment on any aspect.

I don't get to see your point. Mrs kehn has been very discrete and cautious when providing information to the media which I guess Corina was in accordance to each declaration. I guess Michael's wife would have reacted if she didn't agree with sabine's decisions or press release content. You cannot expect the family to provide every single piece of info they have or to provide neither too optimistic or pessimistic expectation.

I guess that it is some media agencies publishing non verified rubbish who are doing the biggest harm.

This is not about getting some lurid detail as he lays in bed trying to recover.
Like it or not, Schumacher is an icon.
He's more recognizable and famous than most presidents.
What I'm saying is simply this... I'd have been okay with one statement about his accident and nothing else...given the lack of updates to whatever progress or setback he's had so far.
It was probably better not to comment on anything beyond what was said in the first news conference.
We know exactly now what we knew when he first hit that rock back in December....nothing.
Most people...myself included want Michael to emerge from this accident with no ill effects.

Tomorrow evening Sabine Kehm (Schumacher's manager) will be a guest in Günther Jauch's talkshow on the German TV channel ARD. The show will air at 9:45pm, GMT+2.

I believe she will have more to say than just "there are no considerable news at this point". Hopefully we'll hear some good news.
