scaling textures

    Hi chaps,

    I have noticed that on a looonnng section of track, the UVW XForm parameters need to be set differently to a short track section to get the same result... am i missing something? I thought I was specifying a size for the tiling of the texture therefore 100m in on axis is the same for any size object???

    The tiling values in the UVW XForm modifier define how many times the texture is tiled on the selection, so if you manually apply this modifier to a straight polygon or a corner poly, it will have different results.

    In the UVW Map modifier, you can control the mapping the way you describe it.

    For this reason it is highly recommended to apply the mapping before collapsing to an Editable Poly. This will ensure that the mapping is normalized on the spline object, and you can then apply an XForm to multiply the tiling rate.
