I wouldn't hold my breath for ISI to do it, but it shouldn't be too difficult for the skilled modders to make this change.
It does seem to be something about collision/path avoidance so when they are more spread it improves, but just like they're overly cautious and sudden brake happy, they're also vicious at dive bombing smashing into others.
