RTB2 is bringing native support for RF2 tracks?

I don't think that configuration files are very hard, or hardest part (although there are some things with shaders json files that are very hard to get right together with specific model stuff). Hardest part is that gJed, and processes alike that would have streamlined model implementation to sim was never completed or released.

P.S. this is also great tool:

crap just wasted 30 Aussie.. only supports very few eu countries and NZ?

It supports whole world :D For some places you just need to find pointclouds yourself. Developer of this is actively expanding the library for various sources. But you can build whatever place of which you have the pointclouds.

There must be Australian data somewhere. Years ago I have ordered and easily got data for Gold Coast.

i though at least was going to be able to get google maps 30 DEM? literally nothing. Anyway, we live , we learn ;)

You learned what ?

I have no idea why you bought it immediately if you don't need what it can do. I already found it highly useful for my track project:

It will be such a time saver, combining with few other emerging tools it might make creating very large maps such as for example Targa Florio or Isle of Man a lot less of an insane task for solo artists. Maybe even a chunk of city, a bit crazy. Crazier than that is that hardest part will be finding someone who appreciates it.

ya my bad i assumed it simplified the ass backwards google maps 3d that is native to RTB, i didnt relaise its basically just a BYO plugin for processing external DEM, can already do that in BlenderGIS for free which is my normal route.

I don't even use it as RTB plugin. I use it as standalone software to prepare terrain. Not sure if BlenderGIS can do it that well.

I have also seen these few interesting things lately:

unsure how useful it would be to recreate real roads as closely as possibile

this might also be useful, has some similar functions to LidarToolbox, though more meant for AC

By the way, I have never worked with RTB, I wonder how good it could be in the workflow of creating high quality realistic road. I feel it might give a nice start, then for finer adjusting and modeling 3D modeling software such as Blender would be used ? What are benefits instead of just starting in Blender ?

When I was track modding for AC i would get the basics done with it, layout, startpoints etc and base ground mesh, (google 30m dem) then go into blender to apply a phys track over its base track (settings is visible track to not be physical), apply some random noise to the track with a nice geometry node setup, its base track as it makes it is super smooth, in game you feel like you driving on a pool table. typically I would handover to the detail guys to add trackside things, but, in terms of quickly setting up stuff it was really handy could conceptualise and layout a track with its base geometry and be in game in a few hours max

RTB, or RBR has more active modding scene ? As far as it goes with rF2 it is not a modding scene, but modding cave. Currently I have to do some stuff for AC, and I can not stop thinking how much further I could get with results with my track project, and then how much richer I could simulate the cars in there in rF2. But simply nobody wants that and I have been disappointed a thousand times by people who pretends they wants it. Hopefully RBR is doing better.

At least tracks modding makes some sense, and it is easier for everyone to agree if track is realistic or not, though even in this topic I am sometimes amazed by ignorance or lack of care about results from people.

This being said, what has been amazing recently, was this surge of new track making related tools, and improvements of older tools. It is not too late if there is nothing better.

RBR I meant, and honestly not sure why even the best mods look like utter garbage, once a year I install it and all the mods, play for a half hour, and tell myself thats a half hour of my life I'll never get back and delete it, but, its modding scene is super active.

I was shocked, amazed, appalled at the quality of mod tracks on RBR. Of course free is free and can't knock anyone putting in time for nothing and providing for a community, but... yeah, wow.
