Rouen Les Essarts 1955-1970, 1974-1994.

Did some time with the Historic F2 cars. Other than a bit slow through the final corner, AI is pretty quick otherwise. Just like most things, your mileage may vary based on mod, settings, etc.

Just a wishlist.........

I hate to be a troll. lol

I don't particularly care how good the ai persay.

What I really want is a 1964 version :)
The old version sort of got side stepped after GPL. :(

ProjectCars tried hard with the narrow version, haybales, old stands and no overpass gave it the character.

But... they made same error every version does by following the Papy/ GPL terrain.

Pitlane is way too level and the drop off into Turn 1 starts too late, too gradual.

You can see how far back the crown in road was back then ( before they they leveled stuff out a little more to accommodate the longer pits )

Even the newer pits buildings were staggered for the slope ( look at the garages roof lines ) ......... in all sim tracks they are level.

Check the videos.

@1:20 Great shots of pits and colour @3:00 for GP race :)

This one @0:40 , in the pits '64
Look just how narrow it is, gives you that tunnel effect at speed....... I like that. ;)

Trivia
Back then (1964 ) fast race lap was 2:10 ..... between our F2's and F3's

And according to DD's post right above, it has the same inaccuracy.

Where there's a will, there's a way. After all, it just requires some 3D reshaping.

Edit: And there's the goblin version, as quoted from The Hobbit, "Where there's a whip, there's a way".

I mean it is only my opinion but I be glad to hear the contrary.

I drove Rouen in GPL then SCGT, Nascar 2003, Nascar Heat, etc etc

VLM released first edition of Rouen it contained same inaccuracy GPL does ( same flat pits and too gradual a elevation into Turn 1 among other things )

Other corners in particular looked, felt and drove exactly like GPL, I do not know what else to say.

So I asked a VLM member why they used the GPL map ( shape/elevations ) as a base and never mentioned Papyrus in any credits. What was wrong with that ?

He literally exploded ? called me all sorts of names and said it was "scratch"

I respectfully asked since it no longer exists what did they use as a reference ....... and he exploded again.

I can only think something I said upset him ?

Since then every gmotor Rouen has been a clone in map and terrain imho.

Just go drive them all okay, you the experts you tell me where they differ. ? Any takers ?

Like any decent convertor / modder could tell me the differences in 2 versions of any other track but not Rouen ?

;)

There is another in progress by Senormen.... PCars based.

Myself and an absurdly devoted friend provided a lot of reference material for their version. My statement was taking the pC version into account.

As is, the track even if not perfect is a very good one, it looks so real.
It is a blast to drive, don't overlook it.

Cheers, and congratulations once again, for the modders.

100%

I do not mean to change terrain, imho it is fantastic, always has been.

Just a separate version 1960s flavour would be sweet
It may say 1955-1994 but it always replicated the latter years.

Narrower pitlane with no fence, old pits, Belgium haybales , the smaller BP signs at Nouveau Monde, the old radio mast with the guy wires, get rid of the overpass and make the back straight after Gresil narrower with the tall trees that got cut down to widen the road there.

Don't worry........ not holding my breathe. lol

OT
I would love a 1960s version of "our" Nords and Mosport and Bathurst ( remember the old pits :) )

Nords would be hard as it needs trees with decades less growth that changed the look.

I've never been able to load this track.
I get the following error message:

Error getting stats for texture YLOLT01.DDS. Error loading texture YLOLT for material YLOPITLTA.

I tried cleaning shaders etc... but it just doesn't work for some reason.
Any fix/workaround known?

@Sergio Loro
I've reached out to that friend of mine to see if he can provide anything. Also asked lilski. I don't know how much use it is but I have found these:

https://www.geoportail.gouv.fr/donnees/carte-topographique-ign
http://circuit-rouen-les-essarts.fr/letracetop/51-les-essarts-une-sacree-descente
https://www.routeyou.com/fr-fr/rout...re-vtt/rouen-foret-rouvray-les-essarts-oissel (you can draw the layout)
http://gallica.bnf.fr/ark:/12148/btv1b530986236/f1.item.zoom
http://fr-fr.topographic-map.com/places/Rouen-5606/

Current topography can still work for part of the track and at least serve as a point of reference (as you can see here), getting the surroundings first and adjusting the track through a ton of your footage review. I'm still trying to see if anything more helpful comes along, even current Lidar data.
