Rfactor2 The VR thread -settings & tips

Been testing a lot at sebring. I have to say the recent VR updates have definitely helped. I'm now able to run VR in daytime and even some mild sunset times at 90 FPS. No PPD, environment reflections and all shadows off. However, if I run at night I still have a hard time getting 90 FPS with my 1080GTX and i7-7700k. It's very close, but I will occasionally stutter down to 45fps.

At least I can now run in VR though.

 

Is there a way to have the Launcher Video Settings set GPU to my primary GPU instead of always starting with 'Auto'?

 

I tried this but mine reverts back to auto, not sure if would make any diference though

 

I forgot about it tonight and was getting a really good run of 90 fps across the board when i checked it was on Auto . So im not sure if it matters or not ??

 

Guys is it me or does the road surface look like satin in VR?

 

If I change from auto to my gpu it reverts back too.

Today I drove the Renault Clio Cup ISI mod and noticed in the tuning options a visor mod. Not sure if it is a standard feature or not but driving the car with it on is like wearing a crash helmet....totally blew me away in VR, this should be in all cars imo.

 

I agree, btw the best implementation of the visor is in the gp3 mod...check it out you won't be disappointed.

I can drive Sebring in VR, which is a blast btw, but not >90 fps with a overclocked 1070.
Which effects/settings are commonly most demanding?

 

I find low track detail
No or low shadows
No AA or x2 at most
No post process
No track reflection
No rain
Texture med
AF x8

Other things low or med
No AI or x4 at most whilst on intensive tracks , mirrors off if still struggling
