any ETA as to when the "open a previous mod to edit it" will be functional? This is the one thing that drives me nuts with the mas tool, there's an "open existing mod" button but it never works. Thanks! oh also regarding this "the tool decides what components the car depends on" - so I don't need to manually select extra components (sound packages) in the sounds tab?
Since there is an actual Core folder, I think Core is a bad description of the folder needed to begin setting up the system.
I have most of the "open" rfmod code working. The only thing I need to improve is the pace car logic. The rfm specifies the veh filename for the pace car but doesn't specify which component to look in. So if you have several components in your vmod and more then one of these components contains a veh file that matches the one specified as a pace car in the rfm then it may not select the correct one. I am guessing this would also be a problem in the actual game. I will just select the first match I guess. But right now my priority is on the caching of content. I have a DataPath setup just for testing this tool that has very minimal content installed and even it takes about a minute to open. I suspect my tool takes hours to open for some people. They probably just assume it's hung up and kill it. About the tool automatically selecting dependencies. I guess I should have worded that different. It doesn't automatically select dependent sound components. What I was trying to say is you select a car form the treeview and it determines which component is needed for that car. Although I plan on eventually trying to auto select sound components some time down the road. This could be tricky though.
Thanks for the tool. Is there any way to create racing classes? For example, if I want to classify all Corvettes and Nissan GTR as, say, "GT-1" and Clios and Hondas as "GT-2"? Is it possible to overwrite the very category of each car?
Just wanted to let everyone know. I have picked the project back up. I am making progress and may have a working cache in a few days. Edit: Scratch that. Rather than a few days... Make that a few hours. I have all the code written and it works perfect. Now when you run the tool and you haven't installed any new components, it literally starts instantly. All I need to do now is work out distribution because it now requires a few SQLite dlls. Oh, and the progress bar is broken.. I need to fix that.
Okay... I don't like how it handles multiple versions of components. I am going to update the logic to only display the highest version of a component if multiple versions of a component are installed. It's a bit of a mess if I add version numbers to the tree. I'm going to grab some lunch and finish when I get back. Should definitely have something by the end of the day.
Real work held up the release yesterday, but I found some time this morning to finish it up. Check the first post for the build notes and new download link. This tool is actually practical to use now.

Good feedback! I downloaded the component and see what is happening. I should be able to fix shortly.
