hi all in no order, also f*** spelling i'm in a hurry. 2 lobbies: a magic number system lobby for tracks/mods and cars to go into an official RF2 lobby, all tracks, mods and cars will have a magic number for varification in this lobby, another lobby for mods that haven't been assessed. servers (or groups of) to be removed from lobby that run known specialist downloads and don't password their servers: modified tracks with the same name as un-moded tracks on un-passworded server. modded cars on un-pass worded servers. admins and whole groups should be band from adding un-pass worded server that have unique items that require a download from their own website, including car physics changes as well. sort out the bloody steering: you run 1 mod and the steering is fine, you install another mod and the sterring is backwards meaning you have to change for say -ve to +ve FFB. please note: i have a list of stuff cheers gogs dunlop aka dirtyvfr aka desmo dromic please note: i'm happy to elaborate any of the above point and also any other that i post in the next few weeks. i'll have to do it from memory as i've stopped racing my fav sim rfactor because of the above.
rules for all mod / track makers and you should tell them the file to change to make it happen. all tracks should display the version number in the lobby, silverstone-v1.2 all mods should display their version number in the lobby, JF3-v2.1
We do this and its working out quite well for us recruiting wise. no complaints, people just d/l our files without issues. The main problem in Rf1 is the server browser refreshing itself when you click on settings for a specific server so a MOTD with server info is missed. so clicking on settings makes the list refresh and you have to go look for it again. not many people want to keep doing that. If Rf2 can be abit more clear on server info in a stable server-list then it would be much better then just banning servers from the list. leagues play a big part in the server list and the main reason for leagues to have an unpassworded server is for recruiting purposes. We get allot more joiners whome just randomly join any server with people on it and they dont even have the track or mod to begin with. so they are not even looking what a server is running. they join and leave within two seconds. A 'you dont have this track' message would be much more welcome imo.
***TIP*** ////changing this multiplayer.ini value to "0" stops the refresh on every page activation.//// [MULTIPLAYER] [ Multiplayer General Options ] Gamelist AutoRefresh (LAN)="0" // if true, the gamelist will auto refresh on page activation if LAN refresh type is selected there is also a toggle in-game/network settings/ [REFRESH LIST TYPE] - Internet<>Lan (i think this directly effects that multiplayer.ini value)
Thx for the tips guys but i was not talking about me. i just join our servers through direct IP. Its about people roaming the servers looking for a race. we cannot expect everyone to know about ini changes, nore can we tell them on a server or tell them to get a new interface mod. So people will still be joining randomly finding out they dont have the track, mod or custom files. a server list detecting versions would still be the easyest way imo.
Good ideas, they all seem to be server/mod browsing fixes. Another thing would be 2 checks when browsing servers to see if you have that mod and track. + Adding favorite servers (I never figured out how to do it in rF1) I'd be surprised if these kinds of fixes weren't in rF2.
when your in the server, click the remote server icon (under the chat box) between the "vote" buttons. inside remote server, click the "bookmark server" button. in your friends list you will find that server bookmarked.* if the server name, ip etc.. ever changes that bookmark will be void.(it can only be deleted manually from the bookmark.xml)
But sometimes it doesn't work. For example bookmark is not saved or is not listed on bookmark list after restart rfactor.
Talking about issues to be sorted and the lobby: two easy fixes * a sane sort algorithm for the lobby - RFracing and rFracing are in entirely different places, I'm a case-insensitive guy * make the highlighted line sticky when refreshing - e.g. if I'm looking for a mod beginning with M (or m!) then hold M in the middle of the screen
