rFactor Anniversary

My hope, like you guys have mentioned, that there would be a code update. After working on the Swifts for as long as I did, I do see that there is a LOT that would need to be upgraded in order to make rF2 relevant to the current crop of sims out there. While it is my current platform to work on, I can see why people gravitate to the other options.
You DO realize ... :) ... that if they ever do update rF2, it will BREAK your mod!

There's a whole bunch of people still loving AC because it's easy to mod, has lots of content (fair bit of the quality stuff is ripped, mind you), despite the fact it's had no updates for years, and more importantly (from a simulation point of view) a lot of those mods are copy pasta physics, and all that activity does absolutely nothing for the devs (and therefore further development of any title, and to some extent even survival of game development studios).
AC 1 has way more content than rf2. sure a lot mods are poor quality, some ripped , but you can say the same regarding rF2 .
It had no official updates for several years , but things like CSP, SOL/Pure are ( pun intended) game changer.
And of course it had significant impact for Kunos, how could it not? in copies sold , player count on Steam , brand recognition etc.
Maybe you mean it was and is so successful and raised the bar for sim devs so that some projects were scrapped or not even considered?
I mean even Kunos seems to be a victim of its own success with AC Evo development - expectations are high, but it takes so much time and effort to make similar, polished product , but with more features, better graphics, AI etc. No wonder why first they went with ACC(and MSG with LMU etc.)
There’s a place for "closed” games as well as those which allow varying levels of modding.

Some... :D Yeah, some... ;)

I don't disagree on the 'closed' game idea. It's kind of what it was. You had rFactor (moddable), ACTC, GTR 2 / Race07 / GTL, ARCA, whatever else, etc.. All closed.

If it were to go that direction again, it would not that big a deal. It may work.

In absolute terms AC has probably much more ripped mods than rF2, but relatively to the total amount of mods? I wouldn’t be surprised if rF2 had more percentage of such . Of course not on the Steam Workshop.
