That's funny, that's exactly what I was saying in the Lidar thread. ISI can do everything anybody else can. The difference is only whether ISI wants to, and how fast/slow they'll do it compared to someone else. It's worth pointing out that certain things, like the tire model, were developed to a great point EXTREMELY quickly by ISI, but some of the graphics updates took a bit longer than I would have thought. As they say in England, it's swings and roundabouts. ;)

If I were in school and taking a sociology or psychology course I could do my final on this forum, its people and their insecurities.

I think those pictures perfectly exemplify what ISI had been saying about the common thinking in CG/Games these days that under-saturated = realistic. In EVERY single comparison, the real photos are MUCH more saturated.

It depends on the sunlight hitting objects. The reason some track makers go for undersaturated textures is to try and compensate the poor lighting system that makes saturated things look cartoonish. The rF2 lighting as it is now in released WIP shots is already a huge improvement on that front.

    Hi.

Or maybe they perfectly exemplify how a camera can over-saturate a scene when compared to the naked eye.

But it is the photographer, who sets up his camera to take picture and after that, tweak it to desired effect :)

Yup. I went out to take some autumn shots of the leaves changing last weekend. The trees look a lot more orange in the photos than they did to my eye. :) So things look very different in photos, videos and to different people. That's why it was important for us to allow you to adjust some of these things.

    Good point.

Reminds me of hanging around at my graphic artist/photographer friends place. I've noticed one of the first things he does with his shots in photoshop is desaturate. He tried to explain some of what he was taught in school to me but thats mostly over my head :D except that the eye or brain tends to blend a lot of shades together and desaturating mimicks this.

Ofc im no expert on the subject, to each his own :)

He probably has a similar photographic taste (after processing) than I do. I have a strong dislike for HDR in protography (which is different to HDR in gaming). Most HDR photos look nastily oversaturated.

The reason so many HDR photographs look ridiculous is soley due to the photographer, not the process. I'm not sure why anyone would want that "nuked" look. I use Enfuse for my interiors work, http://tiny.cc/u57ku and there is nothing in the process whatsoever that causes those oversaturated photos we often see in HDR photos. Strictly down to the photographer going overboard in post processing.

Might be able to get some SS from the dev build, but wanting to wait for some stuff to hit the closed beta build for a video. Either way I'll try to get you something this week, although it may not show anything which is new tech like most other updates have.
