rFactor 2 WIP Reflections Cockpit Screenshot

really nice job guys... I´m really looking forward to adapt the Indycar 94/95 mod to the new and final rF2.

About the guys complaining about textures and other stuff, more than often, they are people that never modeled a box or textured a ball (not always though) and thats why they can´t appreciate the value of work invested on a product... just keep up the good work... thanks.

Unfortunately though the alternative to seeing WIP screens while software is in development is seeing nothing. So I think it's probably pretty important to understand the shots are WIP and/or to understand sometimes there's reasons for a particular angle or car/track. If we were further away from release and were showing you a wireframe or something I get the feeling less people would complain about use of the term WIP and that just seems weird. :)

An example is that we have a historical track that I made a video of a lap (two laps, actually). In the video there are clearly visible issues with (what I call) popup of detail. This issue isn't fixed yet. But, this track is my favorite historical track, it's a mecca for racing fans and honestly I'm itching to show it off even though it's WIP. So, what do I do? Bearing in mind that this isn't so much marketing as it is communication with customers, of course...

Simple.....You show it!
Notice in the threads theres about 3, 4, 5 guys at most having a dribble fit and not "Getting It", when how many Likes and Comments are you getting from people who do actually see the purpose of the WIP Shots/Videos?
For example at time of writing 48Likes of this pic in FB in an Hour is'nt bad, so say 5 people moan about something...the majority want to see WIP stuff and understand fully what its about!

Of course an alternative is to actually show Working In Progress....that is Scott at his PC 3DSMAX open :P

Yup. Perhaps it would be best to explain it once - in first post of a separate topic just for WIP material, and allow only ISI staff to post there?
I mean - what kind of comment can possibly user post under WIP screenshot, anyway? "Thanks for posting" ? :)

they can ask questions like I did ;)

Nice screen. Hope to see more with progress more frequently than recently (I'm still waiting for the movie with updated rain effects)! :)

That's something I hope to be able to do fairly soon. It's been tried, but one thing or another made it not work yet. :) As I just said on another site you have lots of people making building blocks and the ones for that specific video have not been assembled all at the same time in the way I need them recently. It is on the list though...

This is also the reason why the next screenshot might look worse than this, then the next one looks better, worse, better, worse. It just depends what blocks are active and how up-to-date they are. They all show a step forward though as far as the devs are concerned. :)

Everything is looking incredibly clean and polished in this WIP shot. An excellent foundation for laying on those post-effects.

Maybe the grass and tarmac and other materials could receive some parallax bump mapping to cheer it up? Or probably something less system-taxing I'll be equally happy with.

I prepared my Blog to show this video there as soon as it gets online ;)

All I have to do is insert the Video and hit the Publish Button ;)

So .. I am (and many others of course) are waiting :)

Sweet picture, the reflections are awesome! It will make driving on sunset a challenge, especially if a driver just got in (driver change).

The hands look awesome, but what about modders, will they be problem for them? I can't wait to press all the buttons :D

Keep up the WIPs, I love discussing them with friends.

Send it to some of us via PM and leave the haters in the cold. ;)

Awesome. I check in daily to see if there are more threads in the development news area. Today two now, woho!

DELETED. I already said i would buy rF 2 even at 150 €.

I will say thanks when the game will be out.

But a cokpit screen to show reflections and a video without sound isnt just normal communication. I'm not asking for the foolishness of NFS Shift communication but something normal would be nice.

OMG OMG wahh ouh aint my style, those who cant stand it, ignore my posts & ask for an ignore list whatever the **** suits you.

I moan, always been, always will.

PS : David come back on fb.

Considering this is still a WIP and we can expect the use of post-effects in the release version this screenshot looks very promising. What I am hoping for is that the effects won't be overused like in F1 2010 where most of the time the look is brown and desaturated.

This post should be a sticky for all the moaners... ;)
