feel like this will be the tipping point into the recycle bin for rf2, sad to see it go by, -but- LMU can hold the candle!
Honestly I took my own advice and it's actually not that easy to find the many posts on this issue (people tend to post a screenshot, and don't name the thread well). It can be the runtimes (a windows or gpu driver update can mess with them), or can be your system not letting the game start (The fact rF2 files have changed could be a factor). Google "steam attempting to start" and you'll find many possible solutions for many games. But I'd definitely start by reinstalling the 4 runtime packages in the Support folder of rF2.
Ha! Im also taking my same advice I just posted in LMU forum.. when the rig gets you down, go ride your motorcycle! Will look at this tommorow again after i get some more vitamin motorcycle.
Are you using VR with openXR? Ive had this happen a couple of times in the past few months, first time reinstalling those runtimes fixed it (or seemed to at least), next time it didnt and i couldnt find a way to fix it, but it ran using steamVR or screen. A few weeks later i tried launching with openXR again and it just worked *shrug*
Nope, no luck so far. no steam issues (all other games launch fine), in frustration I downloaded a cracked version of rf2 to run my kart content, thats working, so for now im good, will wait till another update fixes it, or as you you, it randomly decides to work again...
There are a long line of 'Wishful/Hopeful' users. Asking for full pitcrews, completely updated sound/graphics for all cars, inside & out. Real functioning clutch with the ability to skip gears just to name a few.
The clutch works, what doesn't work is the gearbox, in the raceroom they had the best model, but now I see this in AMS2 with differentiated gearboxes in synchromesh and DOGBOX.
id hardly call it a major graphics update.. RR I mean, its shaders, I barely notice a difference, its not as yellow maybe.
Don’t want to start an argument on this thread or act as a fanboy especially consider rf2 is my fav sim but this comment is borderline disrespectful for the people developing RRE considering the efforts they put in this significant graphics overhaul Are you actually just kidding or what?
Disrespectful, how? I read many comments disrespectful to rF2 devs here but this one is just a respectful opinion. I've seen a video comparing the old and new and I can agree with @CeeBee: Sorry, no more offtopic.
no not kidding. really, the only real world difference I see is its less yellow.. tonal changes, it broke my DXVK badly minus 30fps so actually im worse off since they released it. I get effort went into squeezing a few more drops out of a 2 decade old DX9, and I applaud that effort, for those the tonal changes actually matter to, but, I feel it was effort wasted , the time has come to shoot that old horse in the head, and concentrate on moving to a modern engine, with MSG's money woes they may even be willing to licence the rf2 engine to them? and we can at least have dx11.. Anyway back on topic. My issue with non launch posted a few posts back somehow self resolved.. so im running again.
I would rather they open source it to a closed group of modders, I know the ones I thinking of. Make a historic offline sim, kill all that modern UI, clean the rest up. Modders release new updates only for sim no workshop, make it look like PnG. Isle of Man, Dundrod, Targa, Belgium and Monza, rebuild all historic ...oh stop it ! Give them a % of sales.
Just by reading some comments from DEVs on discord, you can see that they don't care about rF2, there are many good mods in rF2 but soon we won't have much to run.
