Is this the only thing you can write again and again?

Well, are you really serious with that? What you see on this tyre is just rubber, Formula One cars pick up after the race to get a bit heavier and to curtain the state of the tyres.
You're always saying "if you do it, do it well"... you should inform yourself before complaining again.

every time I enter here I am more willing to put their hands in rfactor 2, work is well done, wonderful, offsetting every second of waiting.

Those who criticize do not know the job is to program something and the 3D model and make everything work together.

But as any fan, I hope it is not too soon lol.

    Congratulations for the work

I would call that a very, very abused tyre :D Lots of things have happend to it, I think :)

But yes, having such extreme tyre damage visualization in rF 2 would be great.

EDIT: Notice all that rubber "worms" and other protruding stuff - marbles.

I would imagine this is something a skilled modder can edit the heck out of. As long as rF2 ships with a decent tire damage model it can probably be customised.

That said, what Tim posted looks fantastic and will more than satisfy the vast majority of us

I think the next preview should be a car (not necessarily an F1) getting a blowout in both full speed and slow motion. I want to see that rubber bend!

rFactor 2 - Rated M for graphically intense accidents in the pitlane. :p

Well, in rF 1 you can already configure damage instances, so that during crash your driver's head can pop off etc. (but no blood though ;) ) :D

Will modders have to create 16 different images for their moving tires in order to provide this level of detail?

I would hope modders wouldn't need to. A tyre is a tyre and it reacts or looks the same whatever racing is taking place, it shouldn't vary from mod to mod.

Well if that F1 had mud bogger tires I can't imagine it looking properly worn without some sort of other texture to fade to.

Add tons of complexity, imho, it's not desirable, I think one DDS of new rubber which vertices alpha percent be controlled by simulator's engine would be enough. Each point might store a variable corresponding to the % of alpha, revealing the damaged texture underneath.

Rfactor 1 has already a convince wear model for tires even you cannot see directly. We don't need a bunch of transitional textures for each tire. A very complex system surely will result a lot of Mods without functional tyres damage visible. But it is only my useless opinion.

If it CAN be done, then most modders - except the laziest - will do it. I'm sure a lot of the textures can be reused or simply edited quickly

F1 tires are grooved. Most other formula car tires are not grooved unless they're on rain tires. Some rain tires have parallel grooves and some have tread patterns like a street tire. Some tires have one groove, some have two, some have three. And the offroad/dirt track tires are knobby.

All those tires look differently when viewed from the cockpit of an open-wheel car.

I say let those who don't want to make more textures not do it. It would be easier to sort the good mods from the bajillions of crappy ones. :)

It already is easy to sort out the crap from the mods which actually had some WORK put into them. :)
