rFactor 2 Memory Usage Upgrades In Upcoming Build

So I'm not familiar with the implications of 32/64 bit changes to the core program so pardon the stupid question: will the plugins currently available for the 32 bit version (trackmap, ect...) keep working or will all of these have to be re-coded?
I don't know, so will try to remember to answer when I do. Will ask. I would assume, based on experience in other games, 64bit might need 64bit compatible plugins.

Pretty much aprreciated, Tim.

Will also be added more use of cpu cores?
The progress of rfactor2 is really impressive since 4 months ago. Congratulations.

Jeremy wants to get it done for the next build which he intends to schedule for next week. However, that's just his intention, what happens might be different of course. It won't be long though, in my testing offline 64bit is totally stable, online there are some issues they are dealing with, and we don't need to release and introduce more online racing barriers at this point.

The dedicated will be a 64-bit asweel?

gracias TIM aqui en españa de dia esperando se haga de noche para alli en USA sea de dia y vea un post vuestro ,jajaja
gracias TIM por favor liberarlo cuanto antes .
salud para todos y ser felizes
gran trabajo el de ISI

Music to our ears.
Surely the latest contents (cars and tracks) have a better level of detail and graphic quality respect to the past. A 64-bit environment will allow us to take advantage of them.
Can we expect for the near future an additional graphical improvements?

They will need x64 versions. Just got the reply on that. He said if they can write 32bit plugins, the changes they need to do for 64bit won't be a problem for them. But you will need the right plugin for the right version (plugin simply won't work, if not). He's doing the track ir plugin, etc, right now.

Hi Tim, great news here.

Question i have is, if the build is released and you want to run the 64 bit exe, will it still be possible to auto update which till now worked flawlessly for me. Or should one uninstall everything and make a fresh install....

Computer noob here so sorry if the question isn't that smart :o

I would assume the 64 Bit version will still use the existing wheel drivers and software.

Is this the case? ETA this Friday?

I would say that is a very safe bet, after all they work fine with iRacing 64bit. And if you are running a 64bit OS then you will be running the 64bit drivers and software.

Same for Simvibe, I had this answer from SimXperience team after I explained ISI was working on a 64 bits rF2 version:

"We are not currently working on a 64-bit version of an rFactor 2 plugin but if indeed they produce a stable 64-bit version, we will provide a 64-bit support as we did for iRacing. Sincerely, Berney Villers Jr. SimXperience "

So all seems fine, plugin support will follow the move :)

I have some questions in regard the 64-bit version which I did not see a clear answer in the previous posts.

(a) Is an update from 32bit to 64bit covered by a lifetime license?

(b) Will it be possible to join with the 64bit version a dedicated server running on 32bit and vice versa?

(c) The news on the ISI homepage are asking people to test the 64bit version if a proper system is available. Is there any download link to a beta version af the 64bit rFactor2 available?

I emailed SensaDigit about the DashMeterPro plugin, he said that they are watching this thread for more info. They are good about updating the plugin. Once DMP had a 64 bit plugin, I'll switch but not before. 32 bit works fine for me now.

a: I think when the two executables are ready if you have a license, you will download the executable that fits your system as up to now.

b: They´re working on compatibility between 32bit host, 64bit client, vice versa, etc. right now.

c:Not yet,you will look for the unstable build release if you want to try before the oficial release.

Regards.

Yes, though they are still working on that as I type.

Dedicated servers have a different problem. They are not releasing RAM and memory usage increases until rF2 stops working. Dedicated servers memory usage should be minimal and way below the 32 bit 4GB limit. I don't know, however, if going to 64 bit is mandatory for programming reasons though...
