Let me start this thread by stating that I am a complete noob when it comes to gaming on a pc. I recently downloaded rFactor 2 from steam. However, when I launch the game, it's zoomed in so much that I can't even see what I'm doing. I have a laptop, and it's connected to a large Flatscreen TV via HDMI that I use as my primary display. When I disconnected the TV, the game window appeared as a small box in the upper left-hand corner of my laptop's monitor. What am I doing wrong and how can I fix this?
I think first you should tell us the specs or make/model of your laptop because rFactor 2 is fairly demanding on the computer.
Laptop: MSI GL63 8RC, 15.6'' Full HD 1920x1080, eDP IPS-Level 45% NTSC Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 ti 4GB vram CPU: Intel Core i-7 8750H 6x 2.2GHz Memory: 16GB Hope this helps, let me know if you need any additional information and thank you for responding!
When you start rf2 the launcher should appear, can you click on the gear cog icon and select Video Settings (may not be correct wording). If the Video settings window opens check to see if everything is set how you want. For now don't use any post effects. I don't have any experience with laptops and connecting them to other displays, so I may not be any more helpful.
I'm not in the computer now, but. Click the gear in the launcher, go to video setup and select your graphics card (in the top, left side)
HDMI should be fine, I don't think there's a benefit to using DVI instead? I haven't gamed on my TV but use a laptop to watch movies etc, no dramas as far as compatibility and resolution. Can you get a screenshot of the game when it's running on the TV? 'Zoomed in' can mean different things to different people.
Screenshot or take a picture with a camera and use the blue "Upload a File" button. I think the main thing is having Windows setting your TV as the Main Display and then in the rF2 video settings set the Video to Monitor #1
Well, I played around with the video settings as recommended by a few others and got everything figured out. Thank you for responding, Lazza and thank you to everyone for your help! Such a great community.
@Lazza not only was I not talking to you but again you do not know what you are talking about and directing that towards me. I have been polite about it. Mind your business.
Skan, unless you state why he should use DVI instead of HDMI then all you are offering is your opinion backed up with no reason. We are here offering our help and opinions very civilly, except for you.
I do not have to explain or prove myself to either one of you two. If the person I was helping had asked for that, then I would have obliged. Neither of you are some sort of gate keeper who is in charge of what is posted and to what degree it is reliable.
