REPLACED rFactor 2 Build 342 Released

I wonder what the way forward regards performance will be. This build can't be run with the same visual quality at the same FPS than the B300 before it, that's a fact for me any also others I know of.

Does this mean any upgrade from now on will cost us much-needed performance? Will we get back reflection settings that are not OFF but are also not as demanding as the new LOWs?

Same question to you then.

This may well come down to the old ATI vs Nvidia problems. And a 4GB GTX760 is a pretty highend card for a DX9 game at 1920x1080 either way.

If this can't be sorted then B300 is the last update I'll ever run, and I really don't think that's acceptable development progress...

GCCRacer you can see computer specifications by clicking the small square icon 4 colors under the Avatar of person who filled the form in the profile (we cannot see yours BTW).

I got also a small FPS gain with 342. I can even have a FPS blast by selecting the lowest settings for both reflections, and the overall quality seems, when driving, the same than with highest settings.. Those 2 reflections settings are really FPS killers when raised...

didn't find the right thread so I say it here:

Howston with h-shifter is so sweet, best car in rf2 atm (Clio and Megane are close when it comes to the feel that you are in control).

No no no, Howston is not the best car you have mixed feelings mate, you only think it is the best. lool

That is what I get told about the entire sim .......... hehehe ;)

I will ask you obvious question TIG ;) ..... if Howston is best car in rF2 what car is better in what sim then the Howston. ?

lol let em chew on that

Thanks, cool forum feature that I hadn't seen yet...

So far the people reporting improvements are Nvidia users, and I already run low reflections which are fine in B300, but unacceptable performance killers in B342. So the only other option is no reflections which sucks.

I really hope that ISI might find team to give an official comment on this situation, I know that a lot of people at SimHQ have not upgraded because it just kills our FPS or would force us to run visual quality much lower than current.

Filling in my computer details now... maybe that will give better overview.

regards

DX9 or not, a 760 isn't that high end. It's a good card for someone who plays sone games here and there but it's not high end, now that the 780 non-ti versions have dropped to $500, sell the 760 and snag a used 780 for 350-low 400s (I'm guessing used prices, based on the brand new price drop of 780s to $500).

Plus DX9, 10, 11, 8, 7 is not a good metric to determine performance, infact it means literally nothing. I could make a Dx7 app that could destroy any gpu to date. It's to do with the vision of the coder and artists, how good they are at optimizations, how complex the calculations are and what limits they decide upon.

Since this update, it takes ages for the game to start up and matchmaker says no games available.. is a reinstall the best choice?

If in fact your current troubles started after update, then yes, a fresh install might be in order.
I have "updated" quite a few times and then usually end up doing a fresh install.

Hi all

I'd really love to get back into rf2 (now I have my controls working with it again! )
Since the last update my fps has took a big nose dive, I'm using a high spec system too ( overclocked & water cooled )

my system runs the other two sims I have on my hard drive ( in fact only 3 things on my hard drive rf2 Iracing & AC) at high fps ( I cap them at 121fps), but rf2 is all over the place & much lower

I know all about the in sim settings etc, I don't use AA or FXAA ( I do use HDR I'm some cases )

Am I missing a trick? Something in the .ini or something????

Help appreciated

P.s sorry to compare/mention other sims but it's only logical to compare performances / settings etc even if to test ones own system/ways of setting each software up etc

You might want to tell us your sys specs first so people know where to start.. :P
Click on the colorful cube under the avatars of the users who posted above you to see how it might look like. ;)
