Hi, I am trying run rfactor 2 in 32 bits with addons installed but had error message and crash while the track loads for a racing, when I run 64 bits its ok. (Obviously too heavy track). I then downloaded 4gb patch, ran as administrator and installed to \Bin32\rfactor2.exe, restarted pc and ran rfactor2 (32bits) but the game still crashed when it loaded to the track. The size on the task manager monitor while the game is loading levels off at about 3gb, nowhere near the 4gb it is meant to have after the patch was installed. So obviously it is not installed properly. Can anyone help with this?
What 4gb patch are you speaking of? I'd love to be helpful but I'm a little lost. Sent from my BlackBerry PRIV
This patch was necessary to rFactor 1, I don't think rFactor 2 has any limitation on RAM usage. But I didn't get why you don't keep using rF2 64 bits version instead?
32 bits has limits about 2gb. I have to run it with a plugin that only works with 32 bits. I need the patch to work for rfactor 2. I dont think there is one.
There is no 2 GB limit in rF2, it was only present in rF1. rF2 32bit limits you to 4 GB as does any 32bit app. You are right that in practice it can't use much more than 3 GB before it crashes. Same as with old 32bit Windows versions, they only showed 3.5 GB RAM available even if you had 4.
I can't go over 4 GB RAM even racing with 30 cars, are you guys sure there's no confusion in total RAM load x rF2 RAM load?
Sorry, it was just over 3gb before it crashed. I can run the same race ok, with the same cars (and numbers} and same track in DEVMODE on the 32 bit setting but not in the real rfactor 2. Any idea why?
Because it's devmode, not the actual game (obviously something it does - or doesn't do - means it uses less memory. Probably only ISI could tell you, but I doubt it's a bug) I'm not sure how this is relevant. The OP obviously has a 64-bit OS, and either way a 32 bit program is limited to 4GB. If the exe needed patching it would die at 2GB, so that shows it doesn't.
