To be perfectly honest, If nowhere was written it is Gran Turismo 6, I would have sworn this is rFactor 2.

The GT6 Silverstone screens look very good indeed. I will be surprised if it looks that good in-game. None of the GT5 tracks did.

It goes back to what has been said many times on here; tracks can look really pretty when dynamic lighting isn't a concern. I guess that's the challenge rF2 faces - how to make the lighting look realistic at all times of day.

The track and buildings etc in that GT6 screen do look good indeed but the sky has no definition at all, it`s completely blown out...

I don`t have GT6... is it like that in game? Is that an in game screen?

Only iRacing can rival GT's incredible lighting system.

Hoping for other games to reach that level is probably a waste of time.

Don't forget GT has a photo mode which renders images completely differently, I shall reserve judgement until I see gameplay videos.

It's really impressive for having so little RAM.

It's a lot easier to get the lighting right when you are only dealing with one specific time of day that doesn't change. Dynamic changing time of day is a lot tougher as you have to make so many calculations as the "Sun" progresses through the day and into the night.

As an example, the color of the light coming from the sun changes as the day goes on. It starts off with a noticeable yellow cast in the morning and progresses to a blue cast by evening.

I consider that it is necessary to adjust lighting and work of shaders without HDR, and then HDR to include and emphasize the general tone and space air. For example, in rF1 lighting worked perfectly at any time. FreeCarSimulator too, works to lighting at any time perfectly. Only rF2 for some reason lighting well look at a dawn or a decline. Than this so special time? Many paints which are added on objects can? .

GT5 had 24 hours day/night transition, and was awesome... I'm a Gran Turismo fan, I enjoyed (as game) a lot. I'm sure GT6 will improve that, I'm sure will be 24 hours transition again. That's not an excuse like iRacing. iRacing use some tricks in textures to get that quality, but GT6 as I said, will have day/night transition, dynamic weather, and in every moment of the day even in overcast situations you will see an exceptional lighting system.

The awesome point is that such graphics are being achieved in a 2006 machine.

Silverstone screens I think are a nice approach to GT quality, I hope rF2 will have better graphics and ISI is proving they can do good looking stuff and the engine is really capable to do awesome things as Tosch showed with his tests in devmode.

PS: Is something understandable if we see the cost of the GT5 project... 60 million dollars. I'm still prefering rF2 to race! but I think I will play GT6 too, "casual racing" being a nice driver in sims is really fun to go online! :D
