Hi, am i the only one struggling with multiplayer .. with 1131 and wasting time for hour's and hour's? I can't get the dedicated server running .. properly. After managing, to set up a multiplayer xxx.rfmod (which wasn't easy, because 3 times the mod it vanished after installing) After several hours creating a successfully xxx.rfmod with SpaFrancorchamps_2020 track, with MAS2_x64.exe, i was able to start the dedicated server with this mod and then .. no message, no hints, no crash to desktop, just wasting time after several minutes of waiting the dedicated server just stopped and vanished without any further notation .. on each PC What went wrong? Should i correct some server Port's Numbers (every time after updating)? Which Port is right? Multiplayer.JSON: the one PC did have "HTTP Server Port":64297, "Simulation Port":54297, the other did have "HTTP Server Port":27013, "Simulation Port":54297, (Did i accidently change them? .. or are Ports automaticly changed by updating?) Any hint's? Thanks in advance
I choosed the "HTTP Server Port":27013: First I made shure that my "HTTP Server Port":27013 is open: check Then i tested old multiplayer mod's with "non paid" content: I managed to start dedicated servers relatively quick and it was see- and joinable for both PC's. check to be shure: I first started rfactor2 and after than the dedicated server. (the other direction doesn't work for me??) Then I checked the installed folders f.e "rFactor 2\Installed\Vehicles\Porsche_Cup_GT3_2018\" My paid content folder had 2 folders with same number (1.41 and 1.41 (1)) which i cleaned up. (may be, because of more than one Steam- users) no progress With "paid" content SpaFrancorchamps_2020 (1.43) the dedicated server wait's again for long time doing nothing and then it stopp's. frustrating It seems that the dedicated server does not work with new generated "xxx.rfmods (paid or non paid content) and there are aditional multiplayer problems ...
my dedicated server show's no Progress, ... then dissapears with no notice. allthough all the Mods work fine in single player mode.. is there a bug in "MAS2_x64.exe" ?
@Leonardo1962 In your above Screenshot "About gMotor MAS Utility", the Packages Folder is linked to C:\Windows\system32\Packages Normally it is in ..\rFactor 2\Packages or another Folder that you use. I doubt that C:\Windows\system32\Packages is the correct Path Check the Path Settings in the ModMgr.
The only time I’ve seen the system32 bit in a path was when a user was doing a search in windows explorer for the mas tool and then running it from there, which was then causing problems, rather than from a desktop shortcut or directly from the tools folder. Not at my PC to check if this is still the case.
Curiosity got the better of me, indeed running the mas tool from a search results in the working and installation dir being reported as system32. Path remains correct though Running the tool directly from the tools folder or by shortcut has everything in the right place;
Thanks @Goanna and @redapg i noticed a strange location in text file "pkinfo.dat" in Users\...\AppData\Roaming. but it seems, that doesn't matter f.e. CurLocation=1 NumLocations=2 Location=C:\Windows\system32\Packages\xxxx.rfmod Location=C:\steam\steamapps\common\rFactor 2\Packages\xxxx.rfmod CurRFM=0 NumRFM=1 RFM=C:\Users\...\AppData\Roaming\~MASTEMP\\xxxx.mas
i checked the folder setting for mas utility on my old PC it seems to be ok. I have no Idea how to set this folders So i build a new xxxx.rfmod on my old PC with normal and paid content, with same result: Single player Mode work's fine (each) with this generated series. Dedicated server read's and start's this xxxx.rfmod, then wait for long time doing nothing and then it stopp's with no notice.
@Leonardo1962 Open the ModMgr.exe in the Folder ..\rFactor 2\Bin64 and there, at the Bottom on the right, are 2 Settings for the Pathes. Working Dir usually is the rFactor 2 Folder (like: G:\Steam\steamapps\common\rFactor 2 for Example) and Packages Dir is the Folder where you store the rfmod File(s) and rfcmp that you manually install. Set them in that Way that they link to the correct Folders.
Ok, one (package folder) problem solved: to change the "package dir" in Mas2.exe or MAS2_x64.exe you have to click the (package) folder icon (it was explained in mainmenu Help) (C:\Windows\System32\Packages\ seems to be default, after repair or folderchanges) Now i have to find out what's also has to fixed
I guess you start the Dedicated Server with a Shortcut, right? Can you show the Entries of the Fields "Target" and "Execute in" from the Properties of the Shortcut? I guess the rfmod is in the proper Packages Folder now, but the Dedi still doesn't start, right?
tx redapg: I start the dedicated.exe from main folder with a normal link to main folder of rfactor2. This work's fine for older xxx.rfmod's. Finding all track and cars but hangs up while loading the track, only for new made rfmod's ...
@Leonardo1962 Can you add a Space and then +trace=2 to the Entry in the Field "Ziel:", to get a Trace File and upload that Trace File here then? Maybe that shows the Problem. EDIT I just tried it out here, with the Donington Track v1.11 and the Porsche 991 RSR GTE v3.11 and it loads without a Problem.
