rF2 keeps trying to load the same track and crashes when joining server.

A member of our group is having problems joining servers.
Every time he tries to join a server, the track loading screen shows the same track then crashes.
The track it tries to load is NOT the correct track for the server.

While we were racing we switched tracks to the one he keeps trying to load.
While the track was loading, he exited rF2 to fix a controller problem.
When he tried to rejoin, rF2 crashed.
He has been stuck with this problem ever since.

Where might rF2 keep track of an unfinished track load that would make it keep trying to finish it?

I don't have the trace file. If the problem continues I will have my friend send it to me.
At this point he has decided to uninstall/reinstall rF2.
I will post results...

@Strava I would suggest him to not uninstall -> install.
Tell him, before he starts the Game, to rename the UserData Folder into e.g. UserData_Backup instead and then start the Game.
He will get fresh User Files, which may solve the Problem already.
Uninstalling -> Installing often changes nothing and is wasted Time only.
And ensure that he has the correct Track installed, without any Updates, except the Server also uses it.

Did he test it offline first ?
Better to do with new rfmod.
Then you can also save UI / FFB etc.

From the trace it appears the game is trying to load a track called Rovex during startup.
The game crashes before he gets the startup screen.

We do have a breakthru. game has loaded for him. I am trying to find out what the last change he made was...
(I think he deleted userdata but need to confirm)

You are quite right. It is also the first thing any debug help tells you to do. :-\
I tried to tell my friend it wouldn't help but he did it anyway.

Deleting the Userdata folder is what finally fixed it.
Instead of deleting the Folder, i would recommend to rename it, to e.g. keep the stored Setups in the UserData\player\Settings Folder, own stored Controller Profiles......

You should be checking mod manager for old rfmods and uninstall them as well ...if you online.
Simply because a old rfmod with old versions of content will screw things.
Catch 22: If rfmod exists it's content can't be removed, it's physically impossible.

Also uninstalling a track doesn't necessarily remove the folder, you should do a visual check.

P.S. That is why even though I only offline these days I still make rfmods that span every single component ( 6/7 rfmods with some tracks ) Ergo Steam or ISI or S397 or 3rd party can remove what they like ( shrugs ) I sleep easier, oh you also have to manually archive everything bar the kitchen sink ( DLC ) :D

If you neglect old rfmods you invite having multiple versions of same track and sometimes cars taking space for nothing.
That is also why I only ever edit / overwrite v1.0 rfmods or make a new v1.0
That way you have only one for each series and content held hostage by old rfmods are free.

As well if you have huge amounts of content using all cars & tracks manifest it will get slower to work on rfmods and black screen freeze.
By dividing content into more manifests helps immensely.

That is good advice and what I would normally do/recommend. But, this was a new user with nothing saved, nothing to loose.
