rf2 graphics quality expectations

Can't agree much with this, on my pc pCars run more or less the same as rf2 despite looking better, unfortunately (unfortunately because ffb still sucks in pCars).
rF2 is very very intense, both cpu and gpu must be highend too to have it look any good.

 

This is strange, as I get much better performance with rf2 than pcars.

For example if I compared imola on rf2 and pcars, with med textures and low everything else in an open wheel formula car my rig can do 20-30 FPS max, with single figure ai. The rate drops are severe, some corners up to 40 momentarily but down to 19-20 seconds later

With rf2 I can have high textures, shadows and reflections, some AA an 25 ai cars and get 50-70 FPS. And it drives better than pcars.

What might be causing this? Is it maybe an nvidia v amd thing?

Edit I know these circuit comparisons are not particularly relevant but is just to prove a point that for some reason rf2 runs much better under higher Gfx settings than pcars. Which is good, as I prefer rf2!!

 

I can't even run the main menu with pCars but I get 50fps with rFactor at high settings.

Dammit! Danica Patrick didnt win, wouldve been great. Third at the last lap and only would have had to hit one apex to take the cake, but no. Either case that was exiting racing.

^ not sure if this is the truth, but if you can buy the latest games with the latest specs why would you not be spending $$$$ keeping PC up to date to play them ?

if not stick to games that your PC is able to play simple. cannot have it all if you don't keep up with technology thats just life in the 21st century.

The Problem is that you can have the best PC for maxing out rF2 complitly and it run smooth and all, but it still looks bad and outdated...

 

yes, and i don t notice it that much racing to busy looking at the road. mayb doing 10 mph yes.

 

The graphics quality isnt bad, i think the visual quality is sharp when textures are done right. The bad thing is the lighting effects, the car still looks like they are evenly lit from all sides, this is where GT / Forza games is so good on old hardware.

 

exactly. its just outdated, gengine not good at all and need a lot of optimization or ISI even need to change the gengine
